Job Overview:
The primary responsibility of the ROC – DD is to monitor the DS jobs utilizing his/her skills, experience, and available ROC hardware and software resources. The ROC – DD is the first point of contact, for Directional Drilling technical support, for the field personnel. The ROC – DD should timely identify the job-related risks and hazards; and intervene to prevent equipment failures and non-productive time. The ROC – DD shall seek the Subject Matter Expert (SME) support for complex and critical problems to provide an adequate and timely solution. Follows the corresponding steps of the Drilling Engineering process.
Responsibilities:
• Must know and comply with the ROC Standard and approved local Appendices. • Follow the drilling engineering “Rules to live by”. • Comply with standards, internal processes, drilling instructions and operational procedures during the job planning and execution phases. • Establish and maintain constant communication with management. • Participate in all ROC pre-job meetings. • Work with the latest Weatherford approved data visualization and optimization programs to deliver the job results. • Utilize the relevant job experience in troubleshooting any change in scope operations. In case of the incident the ROC DD must follow approved local incident/ event management process and establish communication with management. The local incident / event management (OEPS Document – ROC Event Management Process) shall comply with ROC standard. If local incident / event management process is not established, follow the ROC Standard (2.3.2 Incident Management Process). • Follow approved intervention process to provide the assistance with operations when required. • The ROC DD has the full authority to STOP the job if current rig operation leads to Quality or HSE incidents. • Monitor all jobs in the Geozone in real time via approved remote-control application, WITSML streaming and/or WITSML LWD submissions. • The designated high-profile jobs require closer attention to ensure the rig crew follows the proper procedures and instructions. • The daily job monitoring is completed through the drilling LAS observation and tracking the well / job specific metrics reflecting the drilling performance throughout fleet. • The daily reporting is maintained according to local ROC reporting process. In instance of high-profile / high-complexity jobs the well data access is requested from RTDS , and the field crew is required to enable WITSML communication/ streaming. If direct WITSML data streaming is not available, third party EDR (Electronic Data Recorder) access to be requested with appropriate mnemonics for WITSML data streaming. • Produce the End of Run Reports, QC the drilling LAS and collect the finally QC’d files in local database. • Deliver a quick update reports on rig related issue to relevant personnel. The update report to include Out of Specification (OOS) conditions encountered / mitigation employed / troubleshooting attempted / component issue. (directional drilling, hydraulics, controller etc.). • Responsible for ensuring that operational specifications (limits) of the downhole DD/LWD tools are not exceeded. • RSS Programming Verification – All WFRD RSS runs are subject to programming verification. Field Engineers submit programming and deck check paperwork to RTOC DD for verification / confirmation. The RTOC DD to QC programming and email feedback to appropriate personnel along with questions and concerns. • Field Email Submission Integrity – ROC DD to ensure compliance with field submission emails. (ex. Subject nomenclature) • In conjunction with Technical Alerts ROC DD to be central point in collecting/ uploading all required failure submissions and posting to designated database in correct format. Any issues with gathering information to be brought to FOM’s attention via email. • Conduct ROC self-audits in their districts, report findings to the RTOC Manager, and actively follow up to complete audit’s corrective actions. • Perform various duties and activities assigned by ROC Lead within the physical constraints of the job. • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment: • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees. • Enforce all safety precautions and practices. • Promote safe work practices. • Always attend a mandatory safety meeting and maintain Company property and equipment in safe operating conditions.
• Know and understand Weatherford’s Enterprise Excellence Process and the Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions. • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of industry experience in DD operations (field experience) • Minimum 5 years as Directional Driller III • Bachelor’s degree in oil and gas related technical discipline – Electrical, Instrumentation, Petroleum Engineering • Thorough knowledge of Weatherford Drilling Systems products and services • English proficiency at advanced level
Skills:
• Proficient in anti-collision and well trajectory analysis • Experience and ability to solve problems and perform with minimal supervision. • Ability to use multiple sources of data to formulate, test, and verify failure modes in drilling equipment • Thorough knowledge of Drilling Systems products and services • Experiences with Rotary Steerable tools / Mud Motors • Familiarity with the different forms of vibration encountered while drilling • Knowledge of Directional Drilling practices • Competent with Microsoft Office • Basic skills of the latest Weatherford software necessary to perform daily tasks • Excellent communication, organization, troubleshooting and teamwork skills. Positive attitude and a high degree of self-discipline and motivation • Complete the Well Planning 1 class for DD • Complete the DD1, DD2 and DD3 classes • Submit the Valid AC101 certificate • Excellent communication, organization, troubleshooting and teamwork skills.
