Social Worker (Children's Services) Drumbrae Library Hub Salary: £40,501 - £47,639 Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks per year Our aim is for Edinburgh's children to be safe, healthy, nurtured, educated, active and respected. The Foster Care Team is at the forefront of developing and sustaining a flexible range of family-based care placements to meet the needs of children and young people, from birth to twenty-one years of age. The successful candidate will be involved in the recruitment, assessment, supervision and development of foster carers and the wider service, to ensure that children and young people receive the highest standard of care possible. The Foster Care Team are looking for qualified Social Workers who are committed to relational, trauma informed, rights based practice. The successful candidate should have experience within a social work setting with children and families, and demonstrate an understanding of legal/statutory frameworks relevant to a foster care setting. Skills in assessment, analysis and effective interventions are required to support a diverse range of children and young people's needs in their care experience. Responsibilities include:

• To undertake the recruitment, preparation, assessment and development of foster carers. • To supervise existing foster carers to ensure children and young people receive care which meets their needs and is trauma informed. • To develop and sustain effective working relationships with Practice Team colleagues and other professionals to ensure the services provided by The Foster Care Team are responsive to need. • To take an active role, along with colleagues, ensuring that service delivery supports service planning. • To work within a legislative, policy and procedural context to ensure that care provided to children and young people is safe and which upholds children’s rights. • To support foster care recruitment activity on a regular basis to ensure service delivery is flexible and meets service needs. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
