Nidec Conversion is looking for an AUTOMATION COMMISSIONING ENGINEER for Montebello site.
SUMMARY OF ROLE
Responsible for designing, implementing, and verifying automation software functions. This role includes testing hardware and software systems in the test room, as well as commissioning them for live deployment. Additionally, it involves providing on-site technical assistance and field support to the hardware engineering team to help define project modifications.
PRINCIPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze contractual project specifications (system and mechanical functional specifications) to identify standard modules and implement required customizations.
• Test and verify software modules and functions, utilizing simulation tools where applicable.
• Produce and distribute user and maintenance documentation for both external clients and internal teams.
• Define and analyze interfaces between various internal and third-party modules or subsystems.
• Draft detailed software specifications to support internal development or outsourced performance requests.
• Monitor and manage external software suppliers.
• Prepare and execute commissioning activities for delivered hardware devices and software applications.
• Conduct functional and acceptance testing for the delivered system.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• High School Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science (5-year technical program).
Languages: Good command of written and spoken English.
Automation & Software:
• PLC hardware and software programming.
• SCADA supervisory systems and industrial communication networks.
Electrical Engineering: Solid understanding of electrical machines (transformers, motors), power electronics, and power converters.
Industrial Systems: Electrical distribution systems and automation technologies applied to industrial production lines and processes.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- availability to travel 4 months per year.
