JOB DESCRIPTION The EHS Manager, based in Phoenix, AZ, leads and manages all field EHS personnel supporting construction, field service, and project activities. This position establishes consistent field EHS expectations; coaches and develops field EHS staff; and partners with project leadership, employees, contractors, and customers to ensure work is planned and performed safely and in compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The role requires a strong EHS background, construction safety experience, and the ability to influence safe execution across multiple projects and locations. Job Title: EHS Manager - Field Location: Phoenix Pay: $120,000 to $145,000 (DOE) Travel: Up to 25% Responsibilities: • Lead, supervise, coach, and develop all field EHS personnel, including assignment of priorities, field coverage, performance expectations, and consistent program execution. • Establish and maintain a standardized field EHS approach across construction and project sites that aligns with company requirements, customer standards, and applicable regulations. • Partner with site leaders, contractors, and customers to integrate EHS requirements into planning and execution. • Provide EHS leadership during pre-construction planning, mobilization, site start-up, active construction, commissioning, and project closeout. • Ensure field teams complete effective job hazard analyses, pre-task plans, site inspections, audits, observations, and corrective-action follow-up. • Monitor employee and contractor compliance with OSHA requirements, site-specific plans, safe work practices, customer rules, and company expectations. • Ensure hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions are promptly identified, communicated, and corrected. • Lead or oversee incident and near-miss investigations, identify contributing factors, assign corrective actions, and verify timely completion and effectiveness. • Review field EHS data, trends, inspection findings, and leading indicators; communicate significant risks, priorities, resource needs, and performance updates to leadership. • Develop construction-focused EHS training, onboarding, toolbox talks, and field leadership coaching as needed. • Participate in project meetings to address EHS risks, staffing needs, lessons learned, and customer expectations. • Maintain a regular presence at field locations and travel to project sites as needed. • Promptly escalate significant EHS concerns, incidents, and compliance risks to the Director, EHS & Quality. • Perform other EHS responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Director, EHS & Quality. Qualifications Education: • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, construction management, engineering, or a closely related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education, professional certifications, and relevant experience may be considered. Experience: • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible EHS experience, including substantial experience supporting construction, field service, or project-based work. • Prior experience leading or managing field EHS professionals across multiple sites or projects. • Demonstrated experience working with leadership, contractors, and customers, in active field environments. • Experience conducting audits, managing corrective actions, leading incident investigations, and communicating EHS risks to leadership. Certifications: • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required. • OSHA 510 certification required. • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent professional certification preferred. • Valid driver license and ability to travel to field locations as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction and general industry regulations, recognized construction safety practices, and contractor safety management. • Proven ability to lead, coach, and align field EHS personnel while building effective relationships. • Ability to evaluate risk, make timely decisions, influence without relying solely on authority, and communicate clear expectations at all organizational levels. • Strong incident investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective-action management, training, and technical writing skills. • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and field locations in a fast-paced environment. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS reporting or information-management systems. Physical and Mental Demands: • Ability to work in active construction and field environments and wear required personal protective equipment. • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs or ladders, and navigate uneven surfaces while conducting field observations and inspections. • Ability to spend extended periods walking or standing on hard surfaces. • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods and travel by vehicle or air to project locations as needed. • Ability to respond to changing field conditions, prioritize urgent issues, and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
