Overview The Workers Compensation Specialist is responsible for the management of workers compensation claims including facilitating our return-to-work program, assuming responsibility for the overall administration, implementation, and cost containment of workers compensation claims. They provide general customer service and respond to team member and management inquiries regarding all aspects of workers’ compensation administration. Additionally, they will assist with reviewing and verification of data for Sun’s bi-yearly claim reviews. This role also provides support with incident reporting intake, review and vetting to appropriate internal and external teams. Job Duties Facilitates workers’ compensation return to work program ensuring team members return to work in a timely manner with a focus on minimizing claim cost and loss of productivity. (Essential) Oversees and manages workers’ compensation claims from initiation to closure, including coordination with insurance carriers, medical professionals, legal counsel, team members and location management to ensure an efficient process. (Essential) Maintain organizational consistency in Workers Compensation practices and provide support, training, and guidance to various departments, including management in the field, regarding the implementation and adherence to established policies and procedures. (Essential) Monitor workers' compensation costs and develop strategies to control expenses related to claims and settlements by ensuring strong post-claims’ management. (Essential) Assess the customer service aspects of the workers' compensation program, identifying ways to improve communication, transparency, and team member satisfaction by staying informed on best practices and emerging trends in customer service. Other duties and special projects as assigned.
