The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance. - Business Unit: DRS RADA Technologies Location: Germantown, MD Type: Full Time Schedule: 9/80 Shift: 1st Shift Job Summary DRS RADA Technologies is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing operations for advanced radar and legacy avionics products. This role combines hands-on manufacturing engineering with Lean and Industrial Engineering practices to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, ergonomics, and overall process flow. The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Production, Quality, Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Planning teams to develop scalable assembly, test, and integration processes; implement standard work; improve factory layouts and material flow; and support production readiness for new and existing products. DRS RADA Technologies is a recognized pioneer in AESA tactical radar technology, supporting defense missions including active military protection, counter-drone operations, critical-infrastructure security, and border surveillance Job Responsibilities Manufacturing Engineering & Production Support Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products, including mechanical assembly, electro-mechanical assembly, test, and system integration. Create and maintain manufacturing plans, work instructions, routers, standard work, process documentation, and production process plans. Support production-floor operations by troubleshooting process issues, dispositioning nonconforming material, leading root-cause investigations, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Partner with Quality Engineering on First Article Inspection activities, control plans, process capability, quality escapes, and continuous quality improvement. Lean Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering Support implementation and continuous improvement of Lean practices and the production operating system within assigned manufacturing areas. Lead and facilitate process-improvement initiatives focused on yield, takt time, throughput, labor efficiency, quality, ergonomics, and material flow. Develop, implement, and track productivity-improvement measures using relevant manufacturing and plant-performance KPIs. Analyze, monitor, and support achievement of plant productivity, manufacturing performance, and process-development metrics. Conduct Industrial Engineering studies to establish labor standards, evaluate time factors, assess process capacity, and manage production time credits. Job Responsibilities Part II Factory Layout, Ergonomics & Flow Design and improve workstations, factory layouts, point plans, work boards, and production work processes. Optimize walking routes, material presentation, supply processes, vehicle or product sequence, and overall production flow. Perform ergonomic evaluations and design workplace improvements using approved company methodologies and Human Work Design principles. Plan, coordinate, execute, and monitor production-area relocations or layout changes to improve productivity, quality, safety, and material flow. Evaluate the impact of product design, equipment, process sequence, and workplace configuration on labor content, ergonomics, and manufacturing performance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering , or a related technical discipline. Five years of relevant engineering experience; internship, co-op, production, prototyping, or manufacturing support experience will be considered. Experience working in an aerospace, defense, automotive or similarly regulated manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production documentation. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of material. Working knowledge of GD&T. Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software. Familiarity with ERP systems, BOM management, manufacturing routers, and work-instruction development. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Ability to work effectively with both engineering teams and production-floor personnel. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to present results clearly to technical teams, management, and leadership. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with strong attention to detail. U.S. Citizenship required. This position may require an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment. The salary range for this position is $101,098.00/year-$131,427.00/year. This range reflects the good faith estimate of pay the employer is willing to offer at the time of posting. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including but not limited to: Federal contract labor categories and contract wage rates, collective bargaining agreements, geographic location, business considerations, scope, and responsibilities of the position, local or other applicable market conditions, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
