Join Corning as a Project Technician and contribute to the development, improvement, and execution of manufacturing processes and equipment. In this role, you will work alongside engineering, manufacturing, and technical teams to support projects that deliver capable, robust processes and high-quality products. What is your role? As a Project Technician, you will perform a variety of technical activities supporting experimental procedures, data collection, process improvement, equipment implementation, and manufacturing projects. You will apply technical and engineering knowledge to analyze data, identify opportunities for improvement, and help resolve manufacturing and product-related issues. Working under the guidance of a responsible engineer or supervisor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to help deliver processes that meet customer specifications, quality expectations, and plant goals. Key Responsibilities Support administrative and technical activities, including documenting and releasing processes, such as Manufacturing Instructions (MIs) and Visual Aids (VAs), as well as developing safety and ergonomics guidelines for equipment use. Assist with process improvement and change training for Product Engineering, Product Technicians, and Initial Trainers. Support equipment selection, manufacturing installation, start-up, and acceptance activities, including Pilot, Pre-Production Runs, and EEM. Lead assigned projects under engineering supervision, executing activities based on established methods, procedures, and policies. Facilitate alignment among manufacturing, development, and upstream process experts to help deliver capable processes that meet customer specifications. Use basic statistical tools, engineering data, and methodologies such as DMAIC, Design of Experiments (DOE), Lean, and PFMEA to develop process understanding and support robust manufacturing processes. Support the execution of the site roadmap and project portfolio. Assist with product and process improvement qualification plans and develop technical reports for internal publication. Support problem-solving activities related to manufacturing issues and customer notifications, including root-cause identification and proposed resolutions. Support the implementation and maintenance of a robust Product Quality Architecture for new and existing products. Propose and implement continuous-improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and Safety Kaizen activities. Support and perform 5S implementation activities within the work area to help achieve plant goals. Experiences/Education - Required Technical career or associate degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electronic, or Industrial Engineering. Experience as a Process Technician. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and process improvement methodologies. Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret technical and engineering data. Familiarity with basic statistical tools and continuous-improvement methodologies, including DMAIC, DOE, Lean, and PFMEA. Strong problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment. Ability to follow established procedures, policies, safety requirements, and engineering direction.
