About this role

About our group: The Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Group supports wafer manufacturing operations at Seagate’s Normandale campus in Bloomington, Minnesota. The team designs, develops, deploys, and supports the systems that manage factory execution, production workflows, dispatching and scheduling, manufacturing data, automation, and operational decision support. We partner closely with Minnesota wafer operations, process engineering, industrial engineering, equipment engineering, factory control systems, and global IT teams. We also collaborate with our wafer manufacturing partners in Northern Ireland to deliver reliable systems, consistent practices, and scalable manufacturing capabilities. About the role - you will: Support factory-critical MES, dispatching, scheduling, and manufacturing optimization capabilities through day-to-day operational support, troubleshooting, and system enhancements. Design, test, deploy, and sustain dispatch and scheduling logic that supports work prioritization, tool utilization, factory throughput, and cycle-time improvement. Analyze manufacturing and system data to identify root causes, validate system behavior, measure results, and recommend improvements. Develop and maintain data integrations, automation workflows, and decision logic that connect manufacturing systems and optimization platforms. Partner with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Equipment Engineering, vendors, and global IT teams to define requirements and implement practical solutions. Support new tool introductions, manufacturing flow changes, application upgrades, infrastructure changes, and controlled production deployments. Create clear technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, test evidence, and training materials to improve support coverage and knowledge transfer. Participate in incident response activities and follow issues through investigation, corrective action, validation, and communication with affected teams. Balance operational support with strategic projects while managing multiple priorities, dependencies, and customer needs. About you: You are an analytical problem solver who enjoys understanding how systems, data, and manufacturing processes work together to drive business outcomes. You are curious, adaptable, and capable of learning complex manufacturing environments, software applications, and technical workflows. You enjoy collaborating across teams, translating operational needs into technical solutions, and delivering results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You communicate clearly, build strong working relationships, and are comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You take ownership of challenges, proactively investigate issues, and continuously look for opportunities to improve processes and system performance. Your experience includes: Using SQL to investigate data, troubleshoot system behavior, validate changes, and support reporting or analysis. Working with relational databases and structured manufacturing or operational data. Developing, configuring, or supporting workflow-based, rules-based, low-code, or visual programming solutions. Analyzing complex process flows, constraints, priorities, exceptions, and system interactions. Testing technical changes, documenting results, and supporting controlled deployment into production environments. Collaborating with technical and operational partners to resolve issues and improve system performance. You Might Also Have: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and 5+ years of experience, or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field and 3+ years of experience, or PhD and 0+ years of experience, or equivalent education and experience. Manufacturing execution systems, advanced planning and scheduling, dispatching, factory automation, or manufacturing optimization experience. Wafer fabrication, semiconductor manufacturing, or another high-volume, highly automated production environment experience. Oracle PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable relational database experience. Experience with data visualization, statistical analysis, scripting, system integration, or automation tools. Operational support experience for business-critical applications, including incident investigation and root-cause analysis. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, cycle-time reduction, capacity analysis, or continuous improvement methodologies. Experience working with external software vendors or geographically distributed technical teams. The estimated base salary range for this position is $84,302.00 - $120,554.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
