Position Geotechnical Engineer Specialty Design of building and infrastructure foundation Soil-structure interaction analysis Load bearing capacity assessment Geotechnical instrumentation Education University Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering / Post-graduate Degree Training Foundation design Soil mechanics Laboratory testing Field investigation Geological survey Geotechnical equipment operation Technical knowledge Core knowledge in soil/rock mechanics, geological processes, materials behavior, fluid dynamics, structural engineering principles Technical understanding of soil characterization Technical competencies in geotechnical assessment Technical skills in FE modeling, software applications, ground modeling, statistical analysis, risk prediction, simulation techniques, etc. Technical knowledge in ground investigation methodologies Engineering design capabilities i.e. piling design, shoring design Instrumentation expertise Familiarity with international building codes, environmental regulations, safety engineering, and risk management Experience Not less than 5 years as Geotechnical Engineer Carried out independent site investigation, complex soil analysis, foundation design analysis Client engagement Independent technical documentation Primary Functions The engineer shall perform technical evaluation i.e. soil classification, strength and stability, load bearing capacity analysis , etc. The engineer shall carry out within the frame of third-party design verification services engineering recommendations, construction guidance, technical problem solving, design optimization, etc. Prepare comprehensive technical reports. Attend meetings and discussions with clients and authorities. Technical Expertise The engineer will have enough experience in soil mechanics principles, rock engineering, geological process, ground behaviour, materials strength, structural interaction. Possesses expertise in advance engineering i.e. foundation engineering, underground construction, earthquake engineering, slope stability analysis, geotechnical risk mitigation. Competent in structural load calculations, ground support system, infrastructure design, geotechnical optimization, etc. Capable of carrying out technical investigation methods i.e. geophysical survey, GPR, borehole investigation, laboratory soil testing, instrumentation operation. Proficient in AutoCAD, PLAXIS, GIS, Finite element modeling, statistical analysis tools, 3D ground modeling software Business Requirements Long-term activities Maintains a high degree of expertise through permanent specialised training and knowledge management. Participate in products development and dissemination in his field(s) of expertise Contributes to Best Practices dissemination Participation in Knowledge Management Upstream activities Assists in commercial actions in order to link client’s needs and Bureau Veritas’ services Prepare technical aspects of tenders (related to his field of competencies), including but not limited to: Scope of work Planning Cost structure Downstream activities Participates in execution of the missions, alone or within a project team Liaises with client, designer and/or project manager Manages (if required) design review phase of the project, as per scope of work and Bureau Veritas/client quality system Executes reporting on tasks and cost building-up Contributes to project reporting
