About this role

We, at Leggett & Platt Incorporated, are searching for a Manager Procurement Cost Engineering within our Procurement team to help support our Automotive business. As a Manager Procurement Cost Engineering you will have the opportunity to lead the global Procurement Cost Engineering team and partners closely with Category Management and Regional Procurement to support sourcing decisions, supplier negotiations, and cost reduction initiatives. The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative Responsibilities: 1.Lead the Procurement Cost Engineering Team by managing, coaching, and developing team members while setting priorities and performance expectations. 2.Partner with Category Management and Regional Procurement to align cost engineering activities with category strategies, sourcing projects, and business priorities. 3.Deploy new cost estimating software and develop supporting processes to ensure effective integration into the business. Establish costing standards and best practices to ensure consistent and accurate cost modeling across regions and categories. 4.Oversee cost modeling and analysis for materials, components, assemblies, and finished products using should-cost methodologies and cost estimating tools. 5.Support Category Management and Regional Procurement with cost analyses, supplier cost assessments, and recommendations that enable effective sourcing decisions, supplier negotiations, RFQs, and contract negotiations. 6.Support Category Management/Regional Procurement requests by identifying cost reduction opportunities through VA/VE, process improvements, material substitutions, and localization initiatives in collaboration with Engineering. 7.Review supplier pricing and market trends upon request from Category Management & Regional Procurement by validating supplier quotations, analyzing cost variances, and monitoring commodity and manufacturing cost drivers. 8.Provide reporting and business insights through cost analyses, benchmarks, savings tracking, and market intelligence to support decision-making and procurement performance. Experience: 1. 7-10+ years of experience in cost engineering, product costing, procurement, sourcing, or manufacturing. 2. Experience developing should-cost models and supporting sourcing decisions and supplier negotiations. 3. Experience with should-cost modelling and cost estimating tools and leading cross-functional projects. 4. Prior team leadership experience.
