Job summary
Due to internal promotion we seek to recruit an experienced Neonatal Nurse.
St Helier's Neonatal Services comprise of 2 Intensive Care Unit cots, 4 High Dependency Unit cots, 8 Special Care cots, and 8 Transitional Care cots. In addition, Epsom Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) provides 6 Special Care cots. We are committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for parents and families, enabling them to develop the confidence and skills to care for their babies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the principles of Family Integrated Care and actively support the unit's progression towards Baby Friendly Initiative and BLISS accreditation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide effective leadership and professional development for nursing and support staff within neonatal services. Ensure the delivery of safe, standardised, and evidence-based care consistently across all areas. Foster a culture of collaboration, compassion, and excellence in neonatal care.
Main duties of the job Key Responsibilities
Provide expert clinical care, all babies receive safe, evidence based standardised care.
Oversee the full cycle of neonatal care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
Mentor and support junior nursing staff through structured education, training, and performance reviews, fostering a culture of professional development and continuous improvement.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including medical staff, allied health professionals, and families, to coordinate holistic and patient-centered care.
Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols and policies, ensuring alignment with local and national standards and best practices.
Provide compassionate emotional support and clear education to families, helping them understand their infant's condition, treatment plan, and ongoing care needs.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, demonstrating advanced expertise in neonatal resuscitation and critical care management.
