About this role

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to work in our forward thinking and innovative team delivering client centred and occupation- centred care. Based in our friendly team, you will be part of the team working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Paediatricians and Physiotherapists based at Mile End Hospital. We follow an integrated model of delivering therapy services to children and young people. You will see children with a wide range of developmental difficulties (Physical, Learning and Autism) at homes and in mainstream and special schools. You will also be required to take part in delivering Parent Workshops and trainings.

Clinical supervision, in-service training, quality improvement projects and CPD opportunities will be offered to progress your skill development as a therapist.

Main duties of the job

o To provide client centered specialist Occupational Therapy advice and input to children and young people with developmental disabilities or other medical conditions affecting their occupational performance using the best available evidence base.

o To provide advice and support for other professionals, educational staff, parents and carers involved in addressing the occupational performance issues of children with a range of needs in the community.

Qualifications Essential

Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy HCPC registered Evidence of continuing professional development Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and CPD

Desirable

COOP training Coaching training OCP Splinting training

Experience Essential

General post graduate occupational therapy experience of delivering therapy within an occupational performance framework Experience of multi-disciplinary working

Desirable

Experience of working with children with developmental or other medical conditions Experience of service development Experience of working in schools/hospitals/community

Knowledge Essential

To demonstrate an awareness of professional practice issues in the field of children's occupational therapy and/or new research/evidence. Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession Awareness of current professional areas.

Desirable

Member of relevant specialist section(s) Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people. Knowledge of the current national policy and legal context for children with disabilities Knowledge of essentials of client centred practice Knowledge of essentials in delivering a quality service
