Job summary

Are you looking for a new opportunity to develop your skills?

We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our team as a medical receptionist / administrator. This role is a 9-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, with the specific weekly hours and shift patterns to be confirmed. There may be potential for the role to become permanent, depending on business needs and availability of hours in the future.

Our reception team work between 8 - 6.30pm.

All applicants will be expected to cover a share of extended hours until 8pm and at least one Saturday per year.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Front Desk:

Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner. Manage the check-in and check-out process efficiently. Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable.Telephone Management:

Answer and direct phone calls promptly and efficiently. Address inquiries and provide accurate information. Schedule and confirm appointments.Administrative Duties:

Maintain patient records and update information as required. Assist with administrative tasks as needed.Customer Service:

Address patient concerns and escalate issues as necessary. Provide compassionate support to patients and their families. Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.Professionalism:

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Handle stressful situations with calm and composure.Compassion:

Demonstrate empathy and understanding towards patients. Provide supportive and compassionate care.

General administrative duties are required; answering calls and booking appointments, dealing with patient queries, registering patients, sending emails, scanning correspondence, booking hospital transport and liaising with other healthcare professionals.

This post includes opening and closing the Surgery.

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Customer service / reception work experience

Desirable

NHS experience, ideally as a medical receptionist in General Practice

Flexibility Essential

Flexible approach with hours of work, being able to cover additional shifts as required.

Qualifications Essential

Good general education including GCSE passes in Maths and English or equivalent

Desirable

NVQ in Customer Service or Administration
