We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Dietitian to join our dynamic AHP team working in Inpatient Mental Health Services.
This new post will help develop dietetic services for nutrition support pathways for those experiencing nutritional difficulties related to their mental health condition, neurodiversity or physical health conditions.
The post is hospital-based and involves close MDT working, providing opportunity for development of knowledge and skills around this complex and varied client group.
Clinical supervision is provided by an Advanced Dietitian in line with Trust governance policies and opportunities exist for training and development to enhance knowledge, skills and confidence in working with this client group.
Although the post is based at The Caludon Centre in Coventry, travel across sites (Warwick and Nuneaton) is a requirement of the post, so a car driver with own means of transport is required.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist dietetic assessment, advice and intervention for service users within adult and older adult impatient units across Warwickshire. They will manage an independent clinical caseload, deliver training and education to staff, contribute to service development, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to improve physical health outcomes for people with complex mental and physical health needs.

Job description Job responsibilities
Manage a clinical caseload providing effective, and safe dietetic service, using specialist knowledge and skills related to the needs of the patient group. Contribute towards the planning, development and direct delivery of dietetic care offered to people admitted to adult and older adult mental health units. Receive and promptly respond to referrals. Assess patient nutritional risk and interpret relevant blood results, where appropriate. Undertake development of nutritional resources to educate and treat people referred to the service. Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including caseload management and direct clinical care and to work within professional and Trust guidelines and scope of practice. Obtain and record consent from clients at each contact in accordance with Trust Policy.
Document all patient and professional contact in line with legal frameworks
Carry out audits on nutritional intervention and progress using outcome measures.
In collaboration with colleagues plan and deliver training and development to meet needs identified and act as a resource for specialist information where required related to health promotion and weight management. Participate in service development, audit, pathway development and ongoing training needs of the clinical teams under the supervision of the clinical specialist dietitian. Network and develop working relationships with relevant staff, liaising closely with professional colleagues to ensure the delivery of excellent quality services. Provide clinical supervision for support staff and students as required. Work with other dietitians within the Trust and externally to raise the profile of the dietetic profession and promote the dietetics workforce.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc in Dietetics or equivalent Registered with Health and Care Professions Council Relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent evidence of clinical dietetic development. BDA (and mental health sub group) membership Active continuing involvement in appropriate CPD
