Salary: £29240.59 - £32083.6 per annum

Role Purpose:
To undertake painting, decorating, maintenance, repair and minor improvement works across the SSL Estate property portfolio, The post holder will ensure that internal and external environments are maintained to a high standard, contributing to the safety, appearance and functionality of healthcare premises while supporting the wider Estates team in the delivery of maintenance services.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
To undertake the duties of a "multi skilled" Painter and Decorator, including but not limited to:
Preparation of surfaces including filling, sanding, stripping, removal of mastic/sealant and cleaning prior to decoration. Application of paints, varnishes, stains, emulsions, specialist coatings and wall coverings to internal and external surfaces. Application of mastic/sealant as required. Repair and redecoration following maintenance works, water ingress, vandalism and general wear and tear. Undertake minor plaster patch repairs and surface preparation works. Application and maintenance of specialist healthcare coatings, anti-bacterial paints and hygienic wall finishes and sealant where required. Decorating patient, staff and public areas whilst maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Carry out minor carpentry, plumbing and general maintenance tasks appropriate to a multi-skilled operative. Assist with planned preventative maintenance activities and minor works projects.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training Essential
Recognised CITB or EITB Apprenticeship with City and Guilds qualifications.
Desirable
Post Apprenticeship qualifications, formal certificated training in relevant areas.
Skills Essential
2 years post qualifying relevant experience, good communication skills and flexible attitude to work situations.
Desirable
Familiarity with the healthcare sector and day to day operation and maintenance of varying types of building/premises. HTM awareness a requirement.
Personal Qualities Essential
Respectful, conscientious, flexible, confident, mature nature, articulate.
Desirable
Awareness and sensitive to specific needs regarding mental health environment.
Other Essential
Helpful, co-operative, conscientious, committed to the effective and efficient running of the Directorate and service delivery. Full clean UK driving licence

Aptitude for self development, proactive with regards to new technology and working practices.
Skills Essential
Knowledge and appreciation of health and safety issues. Ability to use initiative, able to work on own or as part of a team. Computer literate, with experience in the use of pc/laptop, tablets/PDA, smartphone, email, Microsoft word, excel.
Desirable
Familiarity with other trades/works undertaken within the Estates Directorate.
