The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within LWSW provides specialist mental health services for children, young people and their families.
This is an exciting opportunity to join CAMHS as the Band 7 Clinical Pathway Manager for the Plymouth CAMHS Acute Care Pathway (PCAP). The post holder will provide day-to-day operational and clinical leadership, working collaboratively with the Service Manager, clinical leads, multidisciplinary teams and other CAMHS managers.
The post holder will provide operational and clinical oversight across PCAP, supporting care in line with the i-THRIVE framework, promoting timely access, evidence-based interventions and responsive support for children, young people and families.
A key focus will be the continued transformation of PCAP, strengthening community-based assessment, treatment and intensive support, improving access and flow, and supporting care in the most appropriate setting. The role will also lead the continued development of the CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Team (HTT) function and a responsive community-based urgent and crisis care offer.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and resilient clinician and manager who can provide calm and confident leadership, support staff, maintain high standards of care and drive continuous improvement.
Role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
Staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service.
Main duties of the job
Lead the day to day operational and clinical management of PCAP with the Service Manager and clinical leads ensuring safe effective accessible responsive and cost efficient services. Undertake agreed specialist autonomous clinical practice alongside management duties. Chair and contribute to multidisciplinary business pathway and service meetings including the Senior CAMHS Business Meeting. Lead PCAP transformation development and integration including community and intensive support and the CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Team in line with national and local guidance. Work with CAMHS leaders and teams to review pathway models delivery and improvement. Manage referrals caseloads pathway flow review discharge access waiting times demand capacity activity outcomes evaluation and performance. Use workforce and resources effectively to provide care in the most appropriate setting. Provide line management appraisal and performance support promoting wellbeing reflective practice learning and improvement. Lead clinical governance audit patient safety risk assessment escalation complaints records data and compliance. Identify training needs and support evidence based care consultation and training. Maintain effective relationships with children young people families and partner services. Ensure robust clinical performance and business information supports service planning and contract negotiations. Participate in operational on call and CAMHS duty manager rotas.

The role will include
Day-to-day operational and clinical management of PCAP
As an operational manager the post holder will be required to participate in the operational managers' on-call Rota
The post holder will also contribute to the CAMHS duty manager rota providing on-site management cover as required
Chairing and actively participating in PCAP MDT meetings providing operational and clinical management oversight and supporting effective multidisciplinary decision-making
Chairing PCAP business meetings providing oversight of service delivery performance demand and capacity workforce governance and pathway development
Supporting and progressing the ongoing transformation and development of PCAP including the continued development of community-based and intensive support
Supporting the continued development of PCAP and its integration within the wider CAMHS service
Working collaboratively with the Service Manager clinical leads and MDTs to review and develop pathway models and ensure the offer remains responsive to the needs of children young people and families
Providing oversight of demand and capacity referrals caseloads access waiting times clinical activity and outcomes identifying areas requiring improvement or further development
Supporting effective caseload management clinical review processes treatment planning flow through pathways and timely discharge
Supporting the safe management of clinical risk and appropriate escalation of concerns through established clinical and management processes
Supporting effective multidisciplinary and multi-agency work including relationships with pediatrics primary care education social care and other relevant services
Supporting clinical governance audit quality improvement evaluation and service development across the pathway
Supporting implementation of relevant national and local standards guidance and service developments relating to PCAP and CAMHS
Supporting workforce development and ensuring staff are supported to provide high-quality evidence-based care
Working collaboratively with other Clinical Pathway Managers and the wider CAMHS senior management team to support effective service delivery and development
The Clinical Pathway Manager will be responsible for the line management of staff and the appraisal process
The Clinical Pathway Manager will need to be passionate about developing accessible services and be able to be flexible in their approach to support the team and service development
As one of the Clinical Pathway Managers you will provide an element of specialist clinical practice to be agreed with the Service Manager taking into consideration the level of management responsibility within this post You will work as part of the senior management team within CAMHS in conjunction with the wider CAMHS services

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Degree level professional qualification, relevant to CAMHS, such as mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, clinical psychology or another recognised registered profession. Current registration with the relevant professional body. Evidence of postgraduate study or equivalent advanced continuing professional development relevant to the role. Evidence of management or leadership development through formal study or continuing professional development.

Experience Essential
Substantial post-qualification experience in specialist children and young peoples mental health services, including assessment, formulation, care planning, therapeutic intervention and clinical risk management for children and young people with complex needs. Significant experience of operational and line management responsibility for multidisciplinary staff. Experience of providing management and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary staff and supporting students or developing practitioners through appraisal, objective setting and review. Experience of leading teams in demanding clinical environments, prioritising competing pressures and delivering work to challenging timescales. Experience of presenting and coordinating complex cases within multidisciplinary and multi-agency care. Experience of clinical governance, safeguarding, risk management, audit, quality improvement and service development.
