About this role

Job summary

Dorset NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Dorset County Hospital (DCH) in Dorchester is offering an opportunity to join the dynamic Band 5 Rotational Physiotherapy program on a fixed term contract for 7 months.

The scheme allows newly qualified or established Band 5 Physiotherapists to build core clinical skills across acute hospital and community settings.

Opportunities to work on acute inpatient wards and assessment units; outpatient clinics and in rehabilitation facilities including community rotations.

The 4 month rotational posts include a wide variety of specialties including:

Older Persons Wards Neurotherapy (Acute Stroke and Neuro) Stroke Rehab Unit (including Neuro) Community Stroke and Neuro Orthopaedics (Elective & Trauma) Front of house (Emergency Department & older people's assessment unit) Acute Care (Respiratory, Surgery, Medicine and Intensive Care) Respiratory Medicals/ Pulmonary Rehabilitation Musculoskeletal outpatients (as part of Band 5 Inpatient rotation) Integrated Community Rehabilitation Team - Community Integrated Community Rehabilitation Team - Community Hospital This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery whichalways considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.To undertake assessment of patients / service users care needs, anddevelop programmes of care/Rehabilitation as part of the wider multidisciplinary care team.To provide advice to patients/ service users and carers regarding theircare.To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in arange of settings.Provide supervision, mentorship, and clinical support to students andjunior staff in the team.

Person Specification

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING Essential

Registered practitioner to degree/diploma level

JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE Essential

Demonstrable knowledge of assessment and therapeutic interventions in area of practice Experience of developing programmes of care for an individual or groups of patients/clients and of providing advice Ability to prioritise and organise workload effectively

Desirable

Recent previous experience within a comparable role

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/RESOURCES Essential

Experience of using electronic patient / service user record systems

PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTES Essential

Able to communicate effectively at different levels of the organisation and with staff, patient/service users, visitors or external organisations both verbally and in writing in the exchange of complex, sensitive or contentious information which may require the use of negotiating and/or persuasive skills Willingness to advance own clinical knowledge, skill and competence based on current evidence Ability to use own initiative within sphere of authority
