Job summary
We are looking for an experienced General Practice Health Care Assistant to work at our busy Town Centre Practice.
You will be part of a team who are responsible for providing an efficient and well-led service to our patients. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the GPs, Practice Nurses and support staff to meet the needs of the patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
We are looking for someone to work full time over 4 days. The working pattern will be; Mon, Wed, Thur and Fri. It will include 8am starts and 6.30pm finish times.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities of this role include:
Phlebotomy Blood pressure checks Urine testing, urinalysis and submitting samples to the laboratory following the practice protocol. Obtaining of specimens, ensuring their maintenance under correct conditions and dispatch. NHS Health Checks.CompressionAssisting in health promotion activities for groups of patients e.g. promotion of a healthy lifestyle through smoking cessation, diet and exercise. Blood Glucose measurement. Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of equipment Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Nurses, GPs, Partners or the Practice Manager.

Leicester Terrace Health Care Centre is a busy GP training Practice with 17,400 patients which creates a busy atmosphere. We have a Nursing Team of 10 who support each other to ensure a smooth day to day operation.

The Healthcare Assistant HCA will work as part of the practice clinical team, under the supervision of our lead nurses, to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. The role will involve a range of clinical and administrative duties, including phlebotomy, health checks, clinical procedures, preventative screening and supporting the wider nursing team. The successful candidate will work in accordance with practice policies, protocols and their level of training and competence.
