Job summary
The post-holder will work within The NHS North Cumbria Talking Therapies Service in North Cumbria (formerly known as First Step). The NHS North Cumbria Talking Therapies Service provides evidence-based psychological therapies, as recommended by National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), for individuals with common mental health problems such as mild to moderate depression, anxiety disorders (such as PTSD, GAD, panic disorder, health anxiety and OCD), mild bulimia.
As a service we are offer a combination of face-to-face and remote working (telephone consultation and video consultation) delivered either from one of our clinical bases or via home working. This offers the opportunity for increased flexibility and improved work / life balance. We anticipate that this will be the case in the future.

Main duties of the job
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy practitioner (CBT)practitioners in the service provide a range of evidence based interventions for anxiety disorders and depression. Practitioners also complete Triage assessments. CBT practitioners receive regular clinical supervision and line management supervision, ensure development of core skills and practice. The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The post holder will be part of an NHS Talking Therapies (formerly known as Improving Access to Psychological Therapies - IAPT) service and will provide high intensity evidence based psychological interventions. The post holder will work with patients who have a range of complex Anxiety and Depression related problems using an evidence based therapy recommended by NICE Guidance.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification Essential
High Intensity NHS Talking Therapies (IAPT) Post Graduate Diploma with BABCP accreditation and registration. OR RMN, OT or Social Worker qualification, or an Honours degree level qualification in another mental health field, subject to specific suitability check, and able to meet Core Profession equivalence KSA requirements. AND Post graduate qualification in psychological assessment and psychological therapy appropriate to the NHS Talking Therapies pathway as detailed in the Table below with related registration and accreditation.
Knowledge and Experience Essential
Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner and demonstrating the competences as required. Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets Ability to manage own caseload and time Demonstrates high standards in written communication Able to write clear reports and letters to referrers Experience with routine outcome monitoring Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
Desirable
Experience of working in Primary Care Services Worked in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical Outcomes Trained in provision of supervision for CBT / other relevant modality Completed clinical audits within a service
Skills and Competencies Essential
Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT (Roth and Pilling 2007) or equivalent for other modalities appropriate to the NHS Talking Therapies pathway Computer literate Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS Has received training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
