We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Speech & Language Therapy Administrator to provide administrative support to our highly regarded Voice Service and wider Speech & Language Therapy Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy healthcare environment and takes pride in delivering an efficient, responsive and compassionate service to patients and colleagues.

Our voice service is nationally recognised and includes the largest consultant-led voice clinic in the country. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of this specialist service, working closely with the Clinical Lead Voice Therapist, Speech & Language Therapists, ENT colleagues and administrative teams across the Trust. As part of a large and innovative department, you will be supported to develop your skills and contribute to the ongoing delivery of excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a motivated and professional administrator to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Speech & Language Therapy Department, with a particular focus on the outpatient Voice Service.

You will be a key point of contact for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, managing enquiries and delivering excellent customer service. The role includes booking appointments, processing referrals, maintaining patient records and supporting the administration of specialist voice clinics.

Working closely with the Voice Therapy Team and wider multidisciplinary colleagues, you will help ensure the efficient delivery of a high-quality service. You will also support the Head of Service in data management, maintain departmental systems and undertake a range of administrative duties to support the day-to-day running of the department.

The successful candidate will be organised, adaptable and able to manage a varied workload while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training Essential

Good standard of education NVQ 2 plus additional experience equating to NVQ 3 as outlined below GCSE English Language or equivalent Clear handwriting and spelling Numerate

Desirable

NVQ Business Administration - Level II or equivalent RSA II Certificate in Office Cerner/iCare Trained

Experience Essential

Previous experience of working in a busy environment Previous experience in an admin role

Desirable

Previous experience of working in a busy environment in a healthcare setting Experience on the patient system and Electronic Discharge Summaries System Previous experience of minute taking

Knowledge and Skills Essential

Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Good organisational and administration skills Good customer care skills Effective communication skills Basic understanding of practical Data Protection issues Knowledge of child and adult protection issues

Ability to prioritise a busy workload
