We are recruiting for

one permanent full-time role and

one fixed-term part-time role (37.5 hours per fortnight) for 12 months.

Job Summary

As an Operational Nurse Team Leader, you will lead a plasma collection team that helps save and improve lives across the UK. You will play a vital role in ensuring safe, high-quality plasma collection while creating an outstanding experience for donors. Leading by example, you will provide clinical expertise, support and develop colleagues, and help maintain the highest standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution while developing your leadership skills in a unique healthcare setting. You will work closely with colleagues to continuously improve services, support innovation, and ensure donors receive safe, compassionate care throughout their donation journey.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will inspire your team through positive leadership to provide exceptional and safe care for our donors and ensure the safe collection of donated plasma. You will be a mentor to your team to provide support and leadership to further their development and performance. You will take ownership for the operational success of your team to ensure we deliver a first-class donor experience.

Your responsibilities will include: -

Lead and support a team delivering safe, efficient plasma collection services, ensuring an excellent donor experience at every stage.

Use your clinical expertise to guide colleagues on donor eligibility, clinical decision-making and safe practice.

Help maintain the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance, ensuring plasma products meet required standards.

Coach, mentor and develop team members, creating opportunities for learning, growth and professional development.

Lead by example to promote a culture of caring, inclusivity, respect and continuous improvement.

Investigate, manage and escalate clinical incidents, risks and adverse events to support donor and product safety.

Support audits, inspections and quality improvement activities that help strengthen services and outcomes.

Build strong working relationships across NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and with external partners to share expertise and best practice.

Support change initiatives that improve efficiency, service delivery and the experience of donors and colleagues.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with current Nursing and Midwifery Council registration (Part 1 Adult/General, level 1 or 2). Requirement for NMC professional registration required (which must be maintained in the role) Evidence of commitment to continued learning and application in practice including demonstrated commitment to own Continuous Professional Development

Experience Essential

Experience of successful implementation of change with a key focus of managing and motivating people Experience of mentorship, coaching and presentation of educational materials. Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of patient safety initiatives and strategies and risk management.
