Band 8A Lead Nurse for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition
PLEASE NOTE: Sponsorship is not normally available for this vacancy - applicants must have the right-to-work in the UK for this role by their proposed start date.
To work with the multidisciplinary specialist nutrition team to ensure complex patients receive parenteral and enteral nutrition where indicated.
The Lead Nurse role will ensure line management of 2 enteral band 7 nurses and 1 parenteral nutrition nurse. Within the nutrition team there are 2 Gastroenterology Consultants a pharmacist and a dietician.
Main duties of the job
Supporting approximately 60 home patients on IV fluids and Home Parenteral Nutrition including prescriptions. Involves liaising with commercial home care companies (x 4) for home patient reviews and service review meetings. Managing the enteral nursing team. Supporting complex nutrition patient MDT's. Liaising with other HPN centres (RBH is one of 22 HPN centres). Managing IF Database and supporting national data submissions. Supporting other local hospitals e.g.RSCH, Basingstoke, Frimley, with HPN remote discharges. Daily inpatient PN ward rounds (leading the team during Consultant absence). Supporting general nutrition within the hospital e.g. Nutrition Steering Committee (NSC); dietitians and MUST scoring; fluid balance, etc.

Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse (Pt 1/12) ((RSCN (Pt 8) if appropriate)) educated to a minimum of 1st degree level, or able to demonstrate evidence that working towards ENB 998/Slice, C&G 730, or equivalent Demonstrable management experience / Leadership and/or specialist knowledge
Desirable
Postgraduate management/further study qualification i.e. MSc or MA Advanced Assessment Skills of the patient; Non-medical prescriber; MSc Clinical Nutrition
Experience Essential
Significant post-qualification with recent clinical, leadership and managerial experience at minimum of band 7 AfC Evidence of highly developed specialist knowledge and formal training in field Experienced in meeting requirements of Quality Assurance Framework for the Service Experience in facilitation, teaching, assessing, and coaching Experienced in Audit Process Understanding and experience of challenges and solutions to meeting access targets
