About this role

Job Title: Electrical Engineer Power SystemsJob DescriptionThis Electrical Engineer role serves as the Power Systems subject matter expert, responsible for reviewing customer specifications and requirements and translating them into robust, cost-effective, and schedule-conscious concepts and designs. The position focuses on power electronics and power generation equipment, including conceptual packaging, and leads internal design teams while acting as the primary technical interface to other subsidiaries when power system expertise is required. You will design, develop, analyze, document, select, and support testing of products, systems, and subsystems with an emphasis on mixed-signal power conversion and power filtration solutions.Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for power systems, providing technical leadership and guidance across projects. • Review customer specifications and requirements and develop concepts and designs that best support these needs, balancing performance, cost, and schedule. • Lead internal design teams in the development of power electronics and power generation equipment, ensuring design integrity and alignment with project goals. • Act as the primary technical interface to other subsidiaries when power system expertise is needed, communicating complex technical information clearly and effectively. • Design and develop power electronics circuits and systems, including mixed-signal designs for power conversion and power filtration applications. • Analyze and document product, system, and subsystem designs, including detailed technical reports, schematics, and design documentation. • Select appropriate components, materials, and technologies for power conversion equipment ranging from 100 to 30 kW and voltages from 3.3 to 600 VDC and 120/208 VAC. • Support and oversee testing of products, systems, and subsystems, with a focus on validating power electronics performance and reliability. • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to define and control electrical interfaces between systems and subsystems. • Use circuit simulation applications to model, verify, and optimize circuit performance prior to hardware implementation. • Perform circuit card design using CAD tools, ensuring proper layout, signal integrity, and manufacturability; leverage ALTIUM or similar tools where applicable. • Support the design and operation of mixed-signal and power signal systems, including analog and digital circuitry for power conversion and control. • Design power conversion solutions that step 600 VDC down to 28 VDC or 400 VDC to 20 VDC, including switching elements to enable on/off control and other functional requirements. • Plan and execute EMI/EMC testing, analyze test results, and implement design changes to bring non-compliant hardware into specification. • Apply and interpret MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 requirements in the design and qualification of power systems and related hardware. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development of unmanned ground vehicles and new product lines, integrating power systems into complex platforms. • Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and standards related to power electronics and power generation equipment. • Provide technical support during production, integration, and field activities, troubleshooting and resolving power system issues as needed. Essential Skills

• Demonstrated expertise in power electronics and power generation equipment design, with a focus on mixed-signal and power signal applications. • Strong experience in circuit design, including analog and digital circuitry for power conversion and power filtration. • Proficiency with circuit simulation applications and the ability to model and optimize circuit behavior prior to hardware build. • Hands-on experience with circuit card design and CAD applications for schematic capture and PCB layout. • Experience with ALTIUM or similar electronic design automation tools for circuit card and PCB design. • Proven ability to develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and manage electrical interfaces between systems and subsystems. • Practical experience with electronic design for power conversion systems, including AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC equipment. • Development experience with power conversion equipment ranging from 100 to 30 kW and voltage ranges from 3.3 to 600 VDC and 120/208 VAC. • Experience designing and testing power conversion solutions such as 600 VDC to 28 VDC and 400 VDC to 20 VDC systems. • Knowledge and experience with EMI/EMC testing methodologies and practices. • Proven ability to analyze EMI/EMC test results and implement design modifications to bring non-compliant hardware into specification. • Familiarity with and practical application of MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 standards in power system design and qualification. • Ability to work effectively as a technical lead, guiding design teams and serving as a primary technical interface to other engineering groups. Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on unmanned ground vehicles or similar complex platforms that rely on advanced power systems. • Experience in designing and building new products, particularly in environments focused on innovation and emerging technologies. • Comfort working with mixed-signal and power signal systems where analog and digital circuitry are closely integrated. • Experience with switching devices and architectures used to control power delivery and enable on/off and other switching functions. • Strong documentation skills, including creating clear design descriptions, test plans, and technical reports. • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams. • Ability to balance technical requirements with cost and schedule considerations when developing concepts and designs. Work EnvironmentYou will work within a team of approximately 22 electrical engineers in a professional engineering environment focused on advanced power systems and unmanned ground vehicle technologies. The organization offers a 9/80 work schedule, providing flexibility in working hours, with options for hybrid or in-person work depending on project needs and team coordination. The environment emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and hands-on design and testing of power electronics and power generation equipment. You will regularly use circuit simulation tools, CAD applications such as ALTIUM, and test equipment for EMI/EMC validation and power system performance verification. Dress is typically aligned with a professional engineering setting, with appropriate attire for office-based design work and any required lab or test activities.
