About this role

Are you passionate about transforming how we plan, deliver, and evaluate construction projects in a rapidly changing world? At DTU Engineering Technology, we study how emerging technologies, innovative project practices, and sustainability principles can accelerate the green transition of the built environment. As part of our Sustainable Construction Processes section and the Villum-funded CEBE programme, you will contribute to developing the scientific foundations for more effective, efficient, and sustainable construction processes while building an internationally recognized research profile within DTU's Tenure Track programme.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Your primary tasks will be to:

Lead the CEBE research project Leveraging digital technologies for regulating, formulating and executing sustainable construction projects. Develop research on how emerging technologies can improve: effectiveness by supporting better project selection and front-end decision-making; efficiency by improving delivery performance with respect to time, cost, quality and environmental impact; productivity through scalable and data-driven construction processes.

Contribute to the section's research agenda on Construction Transformation, exploring how construction projects and programmes can drive sustainable societal change. Develop methods and tools using digital twins, BIM, AI, analytics, sensors, reality capture, simulation and related technologies to support sustainable construction and infrastructure delivery. Contribute to research on project governance, project performance, portfolio learning and evidence-based decision-making across the lifecycle of the built environment. Collaborate across the section's project, sustainability and technology programmes. Secure external funding and establish strong partnerships with industry, public clients and international research groups. Teach and develop courses in construction management, digitalization, project management, sustainability and related topics. Supervise BEng, MSc and PhD students in interdisciplinary research projects. Disseminate research findings and engage actively with industry stakeholders, public clients and professional networks.

We imagine that you have experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

Construction project management and project delivery. Governance and performance of major construction and infrastructure projects. Digital transformation in the built environment. BIM, VDC, digital twins and linked data. AI, machine learning, simulation or optimization. Sustainability assessment, circular construction and lifecycle thinking. Technology implementation and organizational change. Data-driven decision making and evidence-based improvement of project performance. Interdisciplinary research combining technical, organizational and societal perspectives.
