We currently have over 5,000 students, located at our East London campus, very close to the East India Docklands Light Railway stop. About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Principal, the Director of Higher Education Compliance will lead ARU London's ongoing compliance with the Office for Students (OfS) Conditions of Registration, maintaining and evidencing compliance across all conditions on a continuing basis. You'll coordinate the institution's response to OfS registration assessment and monitoring activity and own the governance policy suite that underpins the institutions regulatory standing.
You'll act as a key point of liaison with the OfS and with Anglia Ruskin University as validating partner, and will support the Board and Executive Leadership Team with compliance reporting and risk oversight. This is a senior leadership role offered on a part-time basis (0.6 FTE, 3 days per week).
Key Responsibilities
Lead and evidence ongoing compliance with the OfS Conditions of Registration Coordinate ARU London's response to OfS registration assessment and monitoring visits Support delivery and annual monitoring of the Access and Participation Plan (APP) Own and maintain the governance policy suite (including Fit and Proper Persons, Whistleblowing, Anti-Bribery, Conflicts of Interest, Anti-Money Laundering, Freedom of Speech and Sexual Misconduct policies) Act as key liaison with the OfS and with Anglia Ruskin University on compliance and quality matters Support the Board and Executive Leadership Team with compliance reporting and risk register oversight Embed a compliance-aware culture through staff training and monitoring of regulatory developments Maintain the Student Protection Plan and Scheme of Delegation
About You
Significant leadership experience in compliance, governance or regulatory affairs within UK higher education Extensive knowledge of OfS Conditions of Registration and wider UK HE regulatory frameworks Experience working directly with the OfS and validating partner universities A proven track record of leading institutional compliance and governance functions, including policy development Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills
