What will you contribute?

The Systems Engineer's role is to plan, design, and implement the organization's physical and virtual infrastructure according to best practices, company policy, and regulatory requirements. The Systems Engineer is responsible for adhering to project timelines while maintaining the highest level of accuracy, reliability, and infrastructure availability.

The Systems Engineer will develop, implement, and oversee policies and procedures to ensure consistent and repeatable practices for the provisioning of physical and virtual machines running Windows based platforms. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the management of corporate and production systems and will assist in the day-to-day operational support. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will function as a senior technical lead resource among the team.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

Participates in the translation of architecture documents into design and configuration specificationsLeads in the areas of Microsoft and VMware technologies and products, providing subject matter expertiseInstall and configure technology components as per the design or vendor specificationsParticipates in the development of test plans and test cases and conducts system testing of technology componentsParticipates in project scheduling and planning activitiesInteracts with project teams in the implementation and configuration of technology solutionsAssess impact of scope changesInstallation and configuration of system hardware and softwareIdentify and resolve operational and connectivity problems related to computer systemsMonitor, troubleshoot, administer, and tune operating system and hardwarePerform upgrades and testing for systems hardware, software and third-party toolsPerform system management activities including backup management, disk storage and VM sizingAdvise on the operations and functionality of various applications and systemsResearch and recommend the purchase of computer and network software and hardware productsDocuments build and run books for Steady State OperationsDevelop and document the configuration and operations of computer systemsPerform capacity planning analysis and other needs assessmentsDesign redundant systems and policies for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage appliances and stored data assetsDevelop strategies and policies to ensure best practice based regulatory compliance and reduce legal exposureManage the installation and configuration of new and existing virtualization hardware and productsPlan, design and implement messaging security products and related mechanismsSpecify, select, and manage the use of backup and recovery products and toolsPlan and implement Active Directory group policies, OU's, group structures, AD replication and remote data center AD connectivity and replication Required skills & experience:

Degree or Diploma in Computer Science and 5 - 10 years of experience with Windows Systems design techniques, theories, principles, and practicesOne or more certifications in corresponding technologiesHands-on experience working with Azure or other public clouds along with one or more certificationsExcellent knowledge, design and implementation experience with Active Directory and related servicesStrong authoring and debugging skills with system scripting languages (PowerShell, PowerCLI)Familiarity with patching tools and best practicesKnowledge of monitoring technologies and best practicesKnowledge of data center infrastructure technologies: Windows and Linux operating systems, clustering technology, data storage solutions and middleware technologyExperience with SQL and Oracle databases is an assetKnowledge and understanding of ITIL policies and proceduresDesign and management experience with VMware vSphere, ESX and vCenter productsKnowledge of core Internet and networking protocols (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, ARP, HTTP, HTTP/S, FTP) and IP communication is requiredExperience with configuration management tools (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform)Experience as a member of a technical support team in a 24x7 operating environment
