Job Description

Role Summary: Visa Marketing Services is a revenue-generating business function that develops and implements end-to-end Marketing solutions for Visa's clients across Asia-Pacific. We have teams in every market delivering client marketing and a Singapore-based Hub team supporting our 18+ markets across the region.

We are looking for a VM360 Marketing Automation Specialist, Japan to drive the roll-out of our new Marketing Automation and Personalization platform in the Japan market, from market entry through profitable scale. This is a newly created role and you will be the market-level domain expert and trusted advisor for our new Campaign CDP solution for internal teams and Visa clients in Japan.

VM360 is Visa's customer engagement and marketing automation platform, combining capabilities commonly associated with CDPs, customer journey platforms, marketing automation solutions, and campaign analytics tools. It is initially focused on helping financial institutions and card issuers improve customer acquisition, onboarding, activation, engagement, retention and win-back programs through personalized communications and data-driven marketing.

You will be the owner of VM360 for the Japan market, working in close partnership with two key stakeholders: the Marketing Services Lead, Japan and the VM360 AP Lead, who drives the regional framework, standards and playbooks from the Singapore Hub. Your focus is to localize, execute and scale VM360 in Japan within that regional framework.

Success in this role will include winning initial client engagements, launching and scaling VM360 implementations in Japan, and establishing a repeatable growth model for the business.

All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.

Key Responsibilities: You will be the subject matter expert for the Japan market on VM360:

• Mastering the platform: develop deep expertise in how our marketing automation platform works including customer journey orchestration, CDPs, segmentation, event-based triggers, campaign automation, omnichannel messaging, mobile engagement, analytics, and data activation pipelines. • Championing the platform in Japan: serve as the primary point of contact for platform operations, troubleshooting and escalation in the Japan market, articulate the platform's value and attributes for different use cases, and lead onboarding and training programs for Japan-based users and teams ensuring consistent understanding and adoption of platform capabilities and processes.

• Aligning with the APAC framework: work alongside the VM360 APAC Lead to ensure the Japan roll-out is aligned with the regional framework, standards, playbooks and go-to-market approach driven from the Singapore Hub - adopting and localizing these for Japan rather than creating parallel structures, and feeding Japan learnings and requirements back into the regional practice. • Speaking the language of compliance and security: work closely with the Japan market team and Legal/Privacy teams to understand local data regulations (with particular depth in APPI) and be able to address client concerns around data minimization, PII handling, and security. • Foundational technical knowledge: While dev/IT will handle integrations, you need to translate technical components (SDKs, APIs, events, data schemas) into business value for non-technical internal teams and clients, so you can scope realistically and brief delivery teams clearly.

To launch this to market in Japan, you will:

• Localize the offering: adapt the regional go-to-market positioning for Visa issuers and merchants for the Japan market, in line with the framework set by the VM360 APAC Lead. • Lead pre-sales in Japan: Scope client needs, design solutions, develop proposals, and pitch the capabilities to senior stakeholders (CMOs, heads of marketing and product, digital leads at banks). • Own the Japan P&L: own the Japan VM360 P&L, including your market pipeline and revenue targets. The Japan P&L will roll up into the overall APAC VM360 P&L, so you will work closely with the VM360 APAC Lead on forecasting, reporting, and performance. • Grow long-term client value: Build trusted relationships with clients after launch, identify additional use cases, drive platform adoption, and develop initial engagements into recurring and expanding business. • Apply internal standards: adopt the playbooks, solution templates, and best practices developed at the APAC level and apply them to the Japan market, contributing market feedback and local best practices back to the regional team. • Drive solutions through implementation: Remain accountable from discovery and solution design through implementation, launch, and adoption. Partner with Global delivery and technical teams to resolve dependencies, manage escalations, and ensure the agreed client outcome is achieved.

This role is expected to work very closely with the Marketing Services Lead, Japan (direct reporting line), with a dotted reporting line to the VM360 AP Lead.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Required skills & qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Data Science or similar. • 5+ years of relevant experience in marketing automation, CDP, CRM, customer engagement technology, digital consulting, or a related solutions role. Equivalent experience demonstrating strong client and technical solution capabilities will be considered. • Experience in marketing technology consulting, solution consulting, implementation consulting, customer success, or related client-facing advisory roles is highly valued. • Strong understanding of Japan market-level nuances. Hands-on experience with in-market CDP and marketing automation technologies such as Treasure Data, KARTE, b→dash, or similar is preferred. • Demonstrated experience leading client discovery, solution design and technical discussions, translating business requirements into actionable marketing technology solutions. • Basic understanding of API integration, event tracking (SDK implementation), and data flows. • Can articulate how data is captured, unified, and activated - and speak intelligently to clients about data privacy. • Working knowledge of Japan data privacy regulations (APPI), PII, consent management, and data minimization principles is required. Deeper expertise in APPI and awareness of the broader APAC privacy landscape (e.g., PIPA, PDPA) are preferred. • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and verbal) is required, with the ability to collaborate effectively with local, regional, and global stakeholders. • Able to translate complex platform features and data concepts into clear, business-focused talking points for executives. • Comfortable presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Can move fluidly between strategy (why marketing automation matters) and execution (how it works). • Financial and payments industry experience preferred.

Your mindset and attributes:

• Builder & entrepreneur: You're excited to establish a new market offering in Japan. You thrive in ambiguity and enjoy translating regional frameworks into local processes and playbooks as the practice grows. • Self-directed and accountable: You own your market's pipeline, revenue and P&L. You proactively identify opportunities, drive deals forward, and take responsibility for outcomes. • Client-obsessed: You ask great discovery questions, listen more than you pitch, and design solutions around the client's business problem, not the tool. • Persistent cross-functional operator: Able to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and technical dependencies across clients, Japan, APAC, and Global teams. Follows through consistently, escalates constructively, and drives issues to clear decisions and closure. • Collaborative: You work well with cross-functional teams (sales, delivery, finance, legal) and across a matrix - partnering effectively with both the Japan market leadership and the APAC Hub. You're a connector and advocate for both internal teams and clients.

Visa will also consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with EEOC guidelines and applicable local law.
