For this opportunity, you will support a diverse litigation law firm focused on maritime, personal injury, and commercial litigation. You will join its accounting function and work directly with attorneys, legal assistants, accounting staff, and the firm's CFO.

About the Role

As a Legal Billing Clerk, you will own key parts of the firm's monthly billing cycle, helping ensure client invoices, prebills, costs, payables, and reimbursements are processed accurately and on time. This is a detail-intensive role where accuracy and consistent follow-through matter every day.

You will work directly with the firm's CFO while coordinating with attorneys and staff to resolve billing questions and discrepancies. This opportunity is particularly suited to someone with established legal billing experience who enjoys structured processes, recurring deadlines, and the responsibility of getting the numbers right.

Responsibilities

Manage monthly client billing cycles accurately and in accordance with client billing guidelines and attorney instructionsReview and edit prebills, make requested corrections, and prepare final client bills and statementsProcess a high volume of monthly bills while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlinesCreate and maintain billing schedules, following up with attorneys and staff to keep billing on trackPost client costs and transfer time accurately between matters when corrections are requiredProcess accounts payable promptly, including firm expenses and client-related chargesAssist with attorney and staff time-entry needs and resolve discrepancies that could delay billingProcess monthly attorney reimbursements accurately and on scheduleCoordinate with attorneys, legal assistants, and accounting staff to investigate and correct billing issuesSupport the CFO with additional accounting functions and recurring financial processes as neededRequirements

At least 3 years of billing experience in a similar positionProven experience reviewing and posting prebills, statements, and high-volume monthly billingsExperience with billing software and confidence learning or working within legal billing systemsBilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication skillsStrong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to identify and correct discrepanciesExcellent organization and follow-through, with the ability to independently manage recurring deadlinesPrevious billing experience within a law firm or legal services environmentExperience creating and managing attorney billing schedulesExperience with accounts payable and attorney reimbursementsProficiency with Microsoft OfficeStable employment history and interest in a long-term opportunity
