Title: Quality Inspector Specailist Electrical Location: Brooklyn Park MN Compensation: $35-40/hr RESPONSIBILITIES Perform inspection with receiving, in-process, and final inspection of electrical materials, components, panels, equipment, and installed systems. Perform inspections under supervision in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, work instructions, and project quality requirements. Review electrical drawings, schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, cable schedules, bills of material, and applicable revision levels. Verify that electrical materials and components match purchase orders, approved submittals, manufacturer data, project specifications, and identification requirements. Check materials for damage, contamination, correct quantity, proper ratings, required certifications, and acceptable storage and handling conditions. Inspect conduit, cable tray, raceways, junction boxes, pull boxes, supports, grounding components, terminations, and equipment installation for compliance with approved documents. Verify conduit size, routing, bends, supports, spacing, fittings, seals, bushings, bonding, identification, and protection from physical damage. Verify cable and conductor type, size, color coding, routing, separation, bend radius, pulling condition, labeling, and termination location. Inspect wire preparation, lug selection, crimping, ferrules, terminal blocks, connector installation, torque application, and strain relief under supervision. Verify grounding and bonding connections, grounding electrode conductors, equipment grounding conductors, bonding jumpers, and continuity requirements. Inspect electrical panels, control panels, motor control centers, disconnects, transformers, instruments, motors, and packaged equipment for workmanship and conformity. Verify equipment nameplates, voltage, current, phase, frequency, interrupting ratings, enclosure ratings, hazardous-location markings, and required labels. Check panel component placement, wire routing, terminal identification, conductor segregation, workmanship, cleanliness, and correspondence with approved drawings. Witness or assist with continuity, point-to-point, insulation resistance, grounding continuity, polarity, phase rotation, and functional testing when authorized and properly trained. Confirm that test equipment is suitable for the task, within its calibration period, properly identified, and checked before use. Record inspection and test results accurately on approved checklists, forms, travelers, inspection reports, and electronic quality systems. Take clear inspection photographs and maintain traceability between photos, equipment tags, drawing locations, and inspection records. Identify and promptly report damaged materials, installation defects, drawing discrepancies, missing documentation, and work that does not meet requirements. Assist with documenting nonconformances, punch-list items, corrective actions, reinspection results, and final closure evidence. Do not accept, reject, energize, modify, or release work beyond the authority assigned to the apprentice; escalate decisions to a qualified inspector or supervisor. Maintain organized quality records, material certificates, calibration records, redlines, test reports, turnover documents, and required traceability. Compare field conditions with approved drawings and report potential changes, conflicts, or incomplete work to the responsible supervisor. Participate in pre-inspection meetings, daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks, quality briefings, and lessons-learned discussions. Coordinate professionally with Quality, Electrical, Production, Engineering, Safety, suppliers, contractors, and project management. Support supplier or jobsite inspections when assigned and accompanied as required. Follow applicable electrical codes, project specifications, customer requirements, company procedures, and manufacturer instructions as directed by qualified personnel. Follow all safety requirements, including PPE, lockout/tagout, energized-work restrictions, arc-flash boundaries, fall protection, and site access controls. Never perform energized testing or enter restricted electrical boundaries unless specifically authorized, trained, supervised, and protected in accordance with site procedures. Maintain inspection tools in clean, serviceable condition and report damaged, missing, or out-of-calibration equipment. Complete assigned classroom, online, and hands-on training covering electrical fundamentals, drawings, inspection methods, documentation, safety, and quality procedures. Demonstrate progressive competency through observation, supervised practice, written assessments, practical evaluations, and documented qualification sign-offs. Accept coaching, ask questions when requirements are unclear, and immediately stop and escalate work when a safety or quality concern is observed. Maintain a clean and orderly work area and promote workmanship, defect prevention, continuous improvement, and compliance. Perform other electrical quality duties appropriate to the apprentice’s training, demonstrated competency, and assigned level of supervision. Qualifications Education: Diploma from trade school or degree. Experience: 6 months - 2 years working in a manufacturing environment Experience of inspection of electrical component Experience of inspection of control panel Experience with ISO-9001 Experience with turnover package for customers. Experience with tools and calibration. Experience with drawing and blueprint. Experience with lock out/tag out (LOTO) Experience with PLC and industrial electronics Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: UL 508A MTR Certified CA DIR Registered Electrician Trainee OSHA-10 General Industry OSHA-10 Construction Industry CPR/First Aid Certification.
