Position Overview The Assistant Vice President (AVP) will support SMBC's Credit Risk Management function through the following responsibilities: Developing, maintaining, and enhancing credit risk policies, procedures, and governance documents. Providing guidance and support to stakeholders on credit risk policies, procedures, and governance matters, including responding to enquiries relating to associated operational processes and systems. Supporting the implementation and embedding of regulatory and internal credit risk requirements across policies, processes, and systems. The role focuses on regulatory gap analysis, policy development, stakeholder support, and the maintenance and enhancement of related operational processes and systems. The objective is to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and expectations including ECB, and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and enhance credit risk policies, procedures, and governance documents. Liaise with stakeholders across SMBC, including Head Office, EMEA, and other functions, to coordinate policy and regulatory updates. Review and update credit risk policy and procedure documentation to ensure compliance with audit and regulatory standards. Provide guidance and support on credit risk policies, procedures, and governance matters, including enquiries relating to associated operational processes and systems. Support the implementation of credit risk policy requirements within operational processes and supporting systems. Conduct regulatory gap analyses and support the implementation of regulatory developments, including ECB expectations. Take initiative in supporting ECB onboarding and related credit risk initiatives, including gap assessments, stakeholder coordination, documentation, and remediation activities. Expected Deliverables 1. Well-maintained credit risk policies, procedures, and governance documents aligned with applicable regulatory requirements and expectations including ECB, and industry best practices. 2. Efficient and regulatory-compliant credit risk processes supported by clear standards, controls, and supporting systems. 3. Timely implementation and embedding of enhanced credit risk policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements across the organisation, including ECB onboarding and related remediation activities. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in credit risk management, credit risk policy, governance, regulatory implementation, or related risk management functions. Experience in developing, maintaining, or reviewing policies, procedures, and governance documentation within a risk management or regulatory environment. Familiarity with regulatory requirements including ECB/EBA guideline and MaRisk, and credit risk frameworks, including areas such as Definition of Default, Forbearance, Leveraged Transactions, and Loan Origination and Monitoring. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across business and control functions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with data management and reporting tools would be an advantage.
