How you will make an Impact (Job Summary) SPX is a diverse t eam of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Distribution Coordinator, you will coordinate the movement of materials and finished products to ensure customer orders and other shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. This role serves as a key connection between Materials Planning, Warehouse/Stores, Project Management, Order Administration, Crating, Logistics, carriers, and other internal and external partners to ensure materials are ready for shipment and delivery commitments are achieved. The Distribution Coordinator will manage day-to-day shipment coordination, carrier communication, shipping documentation, and system transactions while proactively identifying and resolving issues that could impact delivery performance. The role will also support inventory and distribution activities, maintain accurate shipping records, monitor distribution performance, and identify opportunities to improve shipping accuracy, cost, efficiency, and customer service. Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, communication, problem solving, and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment. What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities) While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be: Shipment Planning & Execution Place purchase orders in the Demand Planning System (SAP) and coordinate shipping and receiving activities. Coordinate outbound shipments with Materials Planning, Warehouse/Stores, Order Administration, Project Management, Crating, Logistics, and other stakeholders to ensure orders are ready and shipped according to customer and business requirements. Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups, confirm shipment requirements, monitor transportation status, and support on-time delivery. Ensure required packaging, shipping documentation, handling-unit information, and system transactions are completed accurately prior to shipment. Proactively identify material, packaging, documentation, carrier, or scheduling issues and coordinate resolution to minimize shipment delays. Distribution, Inventory & System Coordination Process and maintain shipping transactions and related information within SAP or other applicable ERP and transportation systems. Coordinate inbound and outbound material movement and support accurate inventory transactions associated with distribution activities. Maintain shipment files, freight documentation, delivery records, and other required distribution documentation in accordance with company requirements. Work with internal teams to research and resolve shipping discrepancies, inventory issues, damaged freight, delivery concerns, and other distribution-related problems. Carrier, Customer & Cross-Functional Support Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for carriers and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status, scheduling, transportation requirements, and delivery issues. Respond promptly to requests from Project Management, Order Administration, Materials, Parts & Service, customers, and other stakeholders regarding shipment and delivery status. Develop effective working relationships with carriers, suppliers, and other service providers to support reliable transportation and distribution performance. Coordinate expedited shipments and other priority requests while balancing customer needs, transportation availability, cost, and operational requirements. Distribution Performance & Continuous Improvement Monitor on-time shipment, delivery, shipping accuracy, freight, and other applicable distribution performance measures. Identify recurring shipping, carrier, packaging, documentation, or process issues and support development of sustainable corrective actions. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on distribution efficiency, freight cost, inventory accuracy, customer service, and process standardization. Assist with distribution reporting, compliance activities, documentation projects, and other operational initiatives as assigned. What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education) We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has: Required Experience & Skills 3+ years of experience in distribution, logistics, shipping, transportation, warehousing, materials, supply chain, or a related environment. Experience coordinating shipments, carriers, materials, or customer orders in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent requests. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate shipping documentation and system transactions. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve shipment or distribution issues. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Experience with SAP, another ERP system, or comparable shipping/inventory systems. Ideal Experience & Skills Experience supporting domestic and international transportation and shipping activities. Knowledge of transportation terminology, freight documentation, and common parcel, LTL, and truckload shipping practices. Experience working with freight carriers, suppliers, warehouses, and manufacturing operations. Knowledge of inventory control and material-flow processes. Experience monitoring distribution KPIs such as on-time shipment, shipping accuracy, delivery performance, and freight costs. Experience supporting process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives. Familiarity with hazardous-material shipping requirements and regulations. Experience in an industrial manufacturing or engineered-products environment. Education & Certifications High school diploma or GED required Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related discipline preferred. Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods training or certification preferred based on assigned shipping responsibilities.
