Your new responsibilities OSRAM SYLVANIA is a leading lighting manufacturer in North America and a worldwide leader in lighting solutions. Our Automotive Lighting division in North America is #1 in aftermarket retail and a key partner for OEM manufacturers. Our Hillsboro location is the North America Automotive Division Headquarters, which manufactures and distributes automotive lighting components worldwide. The Electrical Engineer will support automotive lighting and electronic product development, testing, and manufacturing engineering activities. This role offers hands-on experience in circuit and system design, embedded electronics, prototyping, validation testing, data analysis, and cross-functional engineering support in a manufacturing and R&D environment. Responsibilities include: Support the electrical and electronic design and evaluation of automotive lighting products, control modules, LED drivers, power supplies, sensors, wiring interfaces, and related assemblies. Create and revise circuit schematics, electrical specifications, interface definitions, wiring diagrams, test requirements, and bills of material. Perform electrical engineering calculations and analysis involving power conversion, voltage and current requirements, component derating, thermal loading, tolerances, and circuit protection. Support component and technology selection for semiconductors, microcontrollers, LEDs, connectors, passive components, printed circuit boards, and automotive-qualified electronics. Assist with prototype builds, PCBA bring-up, bench testing, troubleshooting, firmware-hardware integration, and functional performance assessments. Plan validation testing, including electrical performance, transient immunity, ESD, EMC/EMI, thermal, environmental, durability, and abuse-condition evaluations as applicable. Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, function generators, data-acquisition systems, and automotive communication tools. Participate in design reviews, DFMEA activities, root-cause investigations, and failure analysis of product, circuit, component, or manufacturing issues. Work with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams on PCBA design, component availability, manufacturability, process capability, test coverage, and corrective actions. Support production test methods, end-of-line test requirements, process optimization, and continuous-improvement initiatives for electronic products and assemblies. Prepare and update test reports, schematics, specifications, technical documentation, validation records, and engineering-change records. Collaborate with R&D, optical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, product engineering, and external supplier teams. Apply structured problem solving, data analysis, and sound engineering judgment to support automotive product development from concept through validation and production launch. Who we are looking for Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Physica, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical background. Experience with circuit design, electronics testing, embedded systems, power electronics, or automotive electrical systems is preferred. Familiarity with automotive product-development practices, EMC/ESD validation, PCBAs, laboratory instrumentation, and structured problem solving is beneficial.
