Summary The Department of Pediatrics-Hematology is currently seeking an Assistant Professor. Scope of Practice Clinical Duties Manage outpatient and/or inpatient care for patients with inherited and acquired bone marrow failure syndromes, telomere biology disorders, and related hematologic conditions in a tertiary pediatric hospital setting. Participate in inpatient attending, consultation, night and weekend call, and rounding responsibilities as assigned. Provide complex diagnostic evaluation, longitudinal disease management, and multidisciplinary care coordination. Participate in Bone Marrow Failure and other specialty clinics as assigned, with an anticipated 2.75 outpatient clinic sessions per week, supporting access and continuity for new and established patients. Perform procedures as clinically indicated, including bone marrow aspiration and biopsy and lumbar puncture. Provide consultation services at Texas Children's Hospital and affiliated network locations as assigned. Collaborate with stem cell transplant, genetics, immunology, pathology, and other subspecialties involved in the care of patients with bone marrow failure syndromes. Support clinical pathways, quality improvement initiatives, and program growth efforts within the Bone Marrow Failure Program. Education Educate and supervise Hematology-Oncology fellows, pediatric residents, medical students, advanced practice providers, and other trainees. Contribute to academic conferences and educational activities within the Section of Hematology. Research and Scholarly Activity Participate in clinical, translational, and/or basic science research related to bone marrow failure syndromes, telomere biology disorders, and related hematologic diseases. Support research initiatives and clinical studies within the Bone Marrow Failure Program and the Tier 1 Telomere Biology Disorders Center of Excellence. Engage in publications, presentations, and collaborative research efforts commensurate with faculty rank and academic interests. Location The position is located at Texas Children's Hospital Main Campus in Houston, Texas. Minimum Requirements MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree. Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology. Demonstrated interest and/or experience in bone marrow failure syndromes, inherited hematologic disorders, and related conditions. Prior to employment, must obtain a Texas Medical License and Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
