Location: We are currently looking to recruit 3 x Repair Centre Mechanical Engineer's to work within our asset maintenance department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you? The role will be based in our YW Workshop at our Repair Centre in Normington. Work type: Permanent. This is a workshop-based role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within a standard 08:00 to 18:00 working window. As a Repair Centre Mechanical Engineer within Yorkshire Water's in-house Repair Centre, you will play a key role in ensuring critical mechanical assets are maintained, repaired and returned to service safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. Working primarily within our dedicated workshop facility, you will inspect, fault find, dismantle, repair, refurbish, rebuild and test a wide range of equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves and associated mechanical assets. You'll use your engineering expertise to diagnose defects, determine appropriate repair solutions and help improve the reliability and performance of assets across the Yorkshire Water network. The role combines planned maintenance, reactive repair and equipment refurbishment activities, with opportunities to support installation, commissioning and technical investigations on operational sites when required Where you fit in: You’ll join our Repair Centre Asset Maintenance team, working closely with colleagues to make sure equipment is repaired, tested and returned to service safely and efficiently. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Inspecting and assessing mechanical equipment brought into the workshop and restore assets to operational condition. Strip, overhaul, refurbish and rebuild pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves and associated equipment. Diagnosing mechanical faults and replacing components Deciding whether equipment can be repaired or needs to be condemned Preparing equipment for safe return to operational use Accurately complete repair documentation, inspection reports and maintenance records. Ensure all work is undertaken safely and complies with Yorkshire Water's Health, Safety and Environmental requirements. Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop environment. Support equipment installation, commissioning and technical investigations at operational sites across Yorkshire when required. Work collaboratively with operational, maintenance and engineering teams to minimise downtime and deliver excellent service to our customers Supporting apprentices and less experienced colleagues Following all health, safety and permit-to-work requirements While the workshop will be a central part of your working environment, you’ll also travel to sites when equipment needs to be installed, inspected or repaired in place What essential skills, experience & qualifications you will need: You’ll need: A recognised level 3 Mechanical Craft or Technician Apprenticeship A City & Guilds, ONC, BTEC, NVQ, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or EngTech status Experience as a time-served industrial Mechanical Fitter Practical experience of working with rotating equipment Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills Knowledge of safe isolation requirements The ability to produce clear and accurate maintenance reports A strong commitment to health and safety within both workshop and site environments A full, valid driving licence with no more than six points The ability to use a Toughbook, tablet or similar device to record work activity and update job information As part of this role, you will be required to work within confined spaces, any successful candidate must pass strict medical criteria including, BMI, vision, blood pressure, hearing, and Spirometry tests to ensure your full safety when working in hazardous environments . You will also benefit from having: An HNC in a mechanical discipline CompEx 11 Experience repairing and maintaining different pump types, including centrifugal, positive displacement, progressive cavity, diaphragm and peristaltic pumps Experience with gearboxes, compressors, blowers, pneumatics or hydraulics Knowledge of chemical plant, steam systems or equipment maintained under PSSR Hot-work, fabrication or welding experience Experience operating lifting equipment and carrying out slinging activities Previous experience in the water, wastewater, utilities, process or manufacturing sectors Experience diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical equipment in a workshop-based maintenance environment Do we sound like your cup of tea?
