Position Summary: The Mechanical & Structural Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and analysis of airframe components and systems integrations for aircraft modification projects. This role requires application of engineering principles, 3D modelling, and structural analysis techniques to ensure safe, compliant, and effective solutions that meet project requirements. The incumbent will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support certification, documentation, and implementation of modifications across a diverse fleet of aircraft.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design and develop airframe components and structural systems for aircraft modification projects, from concept to final design.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, and layouts using SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
• Perform structural stress analysis using both classical hand calculation methods and Finite Element Methods (FEM).
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to the preparation of certification, compliance, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure designs are practical, safe, and efficient for intended applications.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, installation, and testing phases.
• Ensure all work meets regulatory requirements (e.g., Transport Canada, FAA, EASA) and company quality standards.
• Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and materials relevant to aerospace structural design.

Your Role As a Mechanical & Structural Design Engineer, you will be central to our innovative modification projects across a wide range of aircraft. Your designs will directly impact the performance, safety, and capability of our fleet, contributing to the future of flight test education.
What You’ll Do
• Design and develop airframe components and systems integrations for specialized aircraft modifications.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and layout designs in SolidWorks.
• Conduct structural stress analysis using both classical methods and FEM tools.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to design reviews.
• Prepare technical documentation for certification, compliance, and manufacturing.
• Engage directly with aircraft and systems during hands-on project phases.
What We’re Looking For
• Degree or diploma in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Recent graduates with strong relevant technical skills are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and familiarity with structural analysis principles.
• Understanding of classical stress analysis and/or Finite Element Methods (FEM).
• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability and willingness to work on-site in London, Ontario.
Assets
• Experience with aircraft structural design or modification.
• Knowledge of Part 21J design organizations and aircraft certification processes.
• Experience with flight test, instrumentation, simulators, or programming.
• Pilot experience.
