About this role

ai3Bio’s name nods to the three disciplines it brings to that problem: advanced immunology, autoimmunity, and artificial intelligence. Using its AI platform to analyze diseased tissue, the team found a marker shared by disease-causing Th17 cells across many conditions, giving it a precise way to target them in diseases that have long been treated as unrelated. By resetting the immune system at its root, ai3Bio aims to move autoimmune care from a lifetime of management toward lasting remission for millions of patients. Rather than suppressing immunity broadly or neutralizing one cytokine at a time, ai3Bio is building platforms that eliminate disease-causing Th17 cells, and other classes of inflammatory T cells, in vivo and in a single step

The Role:

The Drug Product Development Internship will help drive multiple projects forward in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will possess keen attention to detail, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to multitask. This role will provide opportunities to learn new skills and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists to develop processes, formulations, and analytical assays for vaccine drug products. This role will require on-site work with a flexible schedule. We are specifically looking for someone willing to work 16-32 hours a week, from November 1st – March 15th, with some time off over the holidays.

The Responsibilities:

• Prepare formulations for a variety of drug delivery platforms (i.e. mRNA-lipid nanoparticles, particulate suspensions, polymer microparticles)

• Characterize physiochemical properties of drug products using techniques such as dynamic light scattering (DLS), pH, osmolality, zeta potential, plate-based absorbance assays, etc.

• Assist in the development of assays, both benchtop and in vitro, to define critical quality attributes of drug substances and drug products

• Collect, analyze and organize data, as well as troubleshoot and communicate findings in written reports and team and company meeting presentations

• Proactively identify issues and develop solutions in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment

• Maintain thorough and detailed electronic lab notebook and documentation records

The Qualifications

• B.S. candidate in bioengineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or equivalent

• Hands-on laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting

• Basic laboratory skills include pipetting, weighing, using glassware, making solutions, and performing dilutions

• Experience with aseptic technique a plus

• Experience with physiochemical characterization techniques (HPLC, DLS, pH, etc.) a plus

The Culture:

Guided by a shared love of learning and aspirations for scientific excellence, we hold a common belief that work communities should be a place of diverse ideas, mindful focus and authentic fun. We take a shared ownership approach towards building an amazing people and patient-centric culture. As our office is located on the Alexandria campus in Watertown, we have additional benefits including a free shuttle service that makes multiple stops including Back Bay station.
