TITLE: Program Associate

REPORTS TO: Senior Program Officer of Community Engagement

STATUS: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Community Engagement Program Associate supports the Community Engagement team in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and initiatives that strengthen relationships with residents, nonprofit organizations, donors, community leaders, and strategic partners. This position plays a key role in fostering inclusive community engagement, coordinating events and initiatives, managing communications, and supporting grantmaking and program activities that advance the foundation's mission.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Community Engagement & Relationship Building

• Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of community engagement initiatives

• Build and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, residents, nonprofit partners, and stakeholders

• Serve as a welcoming point of contact for community members seeking information about foundation programs and resources.

• Participate in community meetings and represent the foundation at public events and partner activities

• Assist with events that bring together the nonprofit and residential communities, including Community Insights Forum and Nonprofit Speed Networking events

• Program Coordination

• Assist with the administration of community programs, special initiatives, and grant-funded projects

• Assist with Black Equity and Excellence as needed

• Coordinate meeting logistics, event registration, vendor communication, and participant outreach

• Track project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure successful program implementation

• Maintain accurate program records, databases, and documentation

• Communications & Outreach

• Coordinate communications with community partners and participants.

• Support the Communications Department with marketing, social media and website updates related to community engagement initiatives

• Data, Evaluation & Reporting

• Collect and organize program data and participant feedback

• Assist in preparing reports, dashboards, and presentations that measure program outcomes and community impact

• Maintain outreach data and community feedback

• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying trends and opportunities for enhanced engagement

• Utilize the Life Needs Assessment 100 to assess trends and opportunities for engagement

• Administrative Support

• Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, take meeting notes, and coordinate follow-up actions

• Process invoices, purchase requests, and program-related documentation

• Assist with grant administration and other foundation-wide initiatives as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Deep interest in and commitment to the Central New York area, its people and their concerns

• Commitment to be guided in all work by the vision of diversity, equity and inclusion that has been established by our staff and board

• Willingness to learn and utilize Community Foundation systems

• Familiarity with the Central New York area, its opportunities and challenges

• Relevant work experience a plus

• Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member

• Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities simultaneously

TIME REQUIREMENT: This is a full-time, non-exempt position requiring 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some flexibility. Tuesdays through Thursdays are designated in-office days. Staff that choose to work a hybrid work schedule may choose to do so on Mondays and/or Fridays, dependent on management approval. Occasionally, early, late or weekend hours are required for duties onsite and offsite.

BENEFITS: Salary range is $50,000.00 - $55,000. Employee benefits include health insurance, annual vacation and sick days, 12 paid holidays, term life insurance, additional disability insurance, parking, 401(k) retirement savings program with employer contribution and match, optional flex spending accounts for medical or dependent care expenses and other benefits as outlined in the employee handbook.
