About this role
Cobb & Co Veterinary Clinic + South Town Animal Hospital
When you’re looking for a DVM job, what actually matters?
Digital x-ray? Dental rads? Good equipment? Sure. We’ve got that stuff.
But so does everyone else.
The people you work with, the medicine you get to practice, and whether you actually like coming to work every day? That matters a whole lot more.
We’re an independently owned, two-location veterinary practice, and we’re looking for another veterinarian to join us.
And fair warning: we have a lot going on.
Cobb & Co has grown tremendously over the last several years, and in 2026 we added South Town Animal Hospital to the family. South Town has a long history, loyal clients, and people who genuinely care about the hospital. It’s also heading into a period of pretty significant change and growth.
New technology. Better systems. More training. Evolving workflows. Higher expectations. Lots of figuring things out as we go.
Some people read that and think, hell yes.
Other people are already getting hives.
We are looking for the first kind.
Who are we looking for?
Obviously, you need to be a veterinarian.
Beyond that, we care a lot less about whether your résumé checks every possible box and a lot more about how you practice medicine and how you function on a team.
You’ll probably fit in well here if you:
• Give a damn about practicing good medicine
• Keep learning instead of assuming you already know everything
• Can comfortably say, “I don’t know, but I’ll figure it out”
• Respect technicians and assistants and actually want them involved in patient care
• Can disagree with someone without turning it into a thing
• Can give feedback — and hear it
• Own your mistakes instead of looking for someone else to blame
• Can roll with change without complaining about it for the next six months
• Like collaborating but can still make a damn decision
• Are generally a good human to spend a workday with
Our core values are Patient First, Client Centered, Positive, Collaborative, and Progressive.
And no, they aren’t five words we picked for a poster.
We actually use them when we hire, coach, solve problems, and decide what kind of practice we want to be.
The medicine
We want excellent medicine.
That does not mean we expect every doctor to practice identically or know the answer to everything.
We want doctors who think, ask questions, use evidence, collaborate, and are willing to change their mind when they learn something new.
Newer graduate? Great.
Experienced doctor? Also great.
For us, the common denominator is coachability, judgment, curiosity, and the ability to work well with other people.
Have a particular thing you love? Dentistry? Surgery? Internal medicine? Ultrasound? Behavior? Dermatology?
Something weird we haven’t thought of yet?
Great.
Tell us.
One of the best parts of being independently owned is that if you have an interest and it makes sense for our patients and practice, we can actually talk about building it.
We won’t just throw you into the deep end
We take onboarding seriously.
You won’t get handed a login, shown where the bathroom is, and told, “good luck.”
We have an organized onboarding process designed to help you learn our systems, people, workflows, medical
expectations, and how both hospitals operate.
For veterinarians who want or need more support, structured mentorship is available. That can include regular case review, scheduled check-ins, help with surgical and medical decision-making, communication coaching, and a gradual increase in independence based on your experience and comfort level.
We want you to succeed here, and we’re willing to put structure around that.
This is a great fit for someone who wants support without micromanagement, structure without corporate nonsense, and the chance to help shape a growing practice.
What’s it like to work here?
We work hard.
We laugh a lot.
There may occasionally be four-letter words.
Our support staff are encouraged to think, ask questions, advocate for patients, and tell a doctor when something doesn’t seem right.
Our doctors collaborate.
Leadership is actually involved in the hospitals.
And when something isn’t working, our goal is to fix it, not spend three years saying, “Well, that’s just how we’ve always done it.”
We are not perfect. Neither are you.
That’s okay.
What matters to us is that you’re accountable, curious, kind, adaptable, and willing to keep getting better.
Success here looks like strong patient care, good client communication, being a dependable teammate, and participating constructively in change.
A note about two locations
This is a two-hospital team, and depending on the role and schedule, you may spend time at both locations.
We want to be transparent about that from the beginning.
The upside is that you’ll get to work with different teams, help shape how both hospitals evolve, and be part of something bigger than a single building.
Work should not be your entire life
Full-time doctors typically work around 32–36 hours per week, and we’re open to talking about part-time or alternative schedules for the right person.
We want our doctors to take vacation. Have hobbies. See their families. Leave the veterinary hospital occasionally.
We also believe flexibility goes both ways. We take care of each other when life happens, and we expect everyone on the team to do the same.
Benefits include:
• Competitive compensation
• Health, dental, and vision insurance
• 401(k) with employer match
• Paid time off
• Parental leave
• CE allowance
• Professional dues
• Liability coverage
• Employee pet benefits
• Employee assistance program
• Flexible scheduling
One last thing
We’re picky about culture.
Not “you have to be exactly like us” picky.
“We spend way too much of our lives together to knowingly hire someone who makes everyone miserable” picky.
So our interview process involves more than a quick lunch and a handshake.
You’ll meet doctors, leadership, and members of our support team. We’ll talk about medicine, communication, teamwork, mistakes, feedback, change, and what you actually want from your career.
And you should be interviewing us just as hard.
We want both sides to know what they’re signing up for.
If you want to practice great medicine, have a voice, work with people who give a damn, and help build the next chapter of two independently owned veterinary hospitals, we’d really like to meet you.
Tell us what makes you tick.
