About this role

Job summary The post holder will be a Podiatrist who is a member of the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) and registered with the Health Care and Professionals Council (HCPC) The post holder will be a member of the team who has specialist general skills and will be responsible for providing evidence based comprehensive assessment and diagnosis based on clinical findings and support the team by delivering general and high-risk podiatry care within a variety of care pathways, working within codes of practice and professional guidelines. Will provide training and education opportunities for other health professionals and patients to promote an understanding of foot care and self-care including falls prevention. Support the development of a Foot Protection Team contributing to policies and procedures, relating to the management and diagnosis of diabetes in the community.

Main duties of the job To be responsible for managing and prioritising your own day to day workload. Attend regular CPD events and participate in departmental team meetings. To participate and contribute to departmental clinical audit and Research initiatives. Will be flexible and show initiative in coping with changing circumstances relating to day-to day planning of clinical duties. Will have the ability to mentor and supervise podiatry students and podiatry assistants demonstrating clinical skills and procedures. To understand the service performance targets. To take responsibility for monitoring stock levels and security of stock and maintenance of equipment within your own clinical area ensuring stock is ordered when required. To comply with relevant Trust and Departmental policies. To follow the HCPC Standards of conduct, performance, and ethics. To maintain the Royal College of Podiatry clinical podiatric practice guidelines To be flexible and provide cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during periods of absence, including specialist clinics as appropriate. Seeking advice from the advanced podiatrists if necessary. To report incidents, accidents, complaints, defects in drugs/equipment, near misses or SIs following trust procedures. To be responsible for compliance with H&S legislation including COSHH, risk assessment, infection control and sharp policies for the podiatry service. Are you ready to step into your next challenge? We are looking for a Specialist Podiatrist to join our supportive, innovative team at NELFT, delivering first-class care across Redbridge & Waltham Forest.

You will be part of a service that is not only busy and dynamic, but also proud to serve a diverse, multicultural community.

You will join a specialist podiatry service focused on the assessment and management of foot ulceration across Redbridge and Waltham Forest, and the provision of care for people with diabetes who meet the NICE NG19 high-risk foot criteria in Waltham Forest. You will play a key role in supporting wound healing, preventing complications and improving patient outcomes. Opportunities to contribute to specialist areas such as nail surgery, biomechanics and paediatric podiatry may also be available, depending on your experience, competencies and areas of interest.

As this role spans health centres, community hubs, and home visits, being a car driver is essential.

All applicants must have been working in an NHS podiatry service for at least the previous 2 years immediately prior to application.

We are looking for a HCPC-registered Podiatrist (BSc in Podiatry) with 2+ years’ NHS experience – confident in managing diabetic foot ulceration in both the clinical and home environment within a supportive, forward-thinking team.

Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes, Essex.

Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
