Job summary Provide high quality, highly specialist Occupational Therapy clinical expertise and service. 2. Responsible for the development and implementation of high standards of clinical care, ensuring the service provided is needs led, compliant with national guidance and is viewed positively by service users. 3. Undertake a leading role in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating the community Occupational Therapy Service provided to children and young people in Waltham Forest 4. Responsible for undertaking advanced comprehensive clinical assessments of service users. 5. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions for specialist case load, in a variety of settings, as an autonomous practitioner. 6. Provide highly specialist clinical advice to other team members on the suitability of various assessments and intervention methods where appropriate.
Main duties of the job To work within Trust clinical guidelines and HCPC/BAOT professional guidelines and to have a good knowledge of national and local standards and monitor their own and others quality of practice as appropriate. 2. To take responsibility for the management of the caseload and organisation of the workload in the team to meet service priorities. 3. To demonstrate flexibility in adjusting plans as situations/need arises. 4. Establish positive and mutually supportive relationships with all Occupational Therapy staff. 5. Promote the roles and skills of Occupational Therapy to other professionals. 6. Work alongside service users and carers/relatives to continually improve and maintain high quality practice in consultation with others. 7. Participate in research, audit reviews and other initiatives in accordance with Clinical Governance. 8. Measure and evaluate the quality of own work and that of more junior and support staff, make improvements where necessary, recommendations for change and ensure all issues and related risks are raised with Manager. 9. To be responsible for co-ordinating student placements within the team as needed and supporting Band 6 clinical educators. 10. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join Waltham Forest CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Pathway (NDP) as a band 7 specialist Occupational therapist. This post would suit an experienced clinician looking to bring their expertise to and gain further experience within CAMHS neurodevelopmental pathway.
The Waltham Forest CAMHS NDP is a neurodivergent assessment pathway including ADHD and ASC. The service provides evidence based NICE compliant assessments and signposting follow up support to the appropriate community services. You would join a multi-disciplinary team of trauma-informed clinicians who are passionate about ensuring the child’s voice is central to the work we do and work in partnership with families, carers and other agencies to achieve the outcomes desired by the child or young person.
This post sits within a large and diverse borough-based Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service which is currently undergoing significant transformation to reduce geographical inequalities and strengthen clinical and operational leadership. You will have opportunities to join the wider community of psychological professionals across London CAMHS and the NELFT patch.

Starting with NELFT (delete for internal only)
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.
Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period.
High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
