We are looking for an experienced and motivated midwife to join our perinatal leadership team as Perinatal Compliance and Assurance Manager.
The national maternity and neonatal landscape is changing quickly. Key drivers include the Ockenden reports, the National Maternity Review, the Thirlwall Inquiry, the Maternity and Neonatal 10 Point Plan, and the NHS Resolution Maternity Incentive Scheme. The postholder will be central to making sure our service responds to these. You will turn national standards into practical action plans, keep evidence robust and accessible, and give the Trust Board, regulators, and system partners clear and accurate assurance.
We would love to hear from registered midwives who have at least three years' experience in midwifery or neonatal leadership and/or programme management who can demonstrate
The ability to analyse and report on complex data. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The confidence and ability to manage several projects at once If you have experience with the Maternity Incentive Scheme, the CQC assessment framework, or managing external inspections this would be a real advantage.
Main duties of the job
You will be a visible, credible presence for the frontline perinatal multidisciplinary team, including maternity, neonatal, obstetric anaesthesia, and sonography colleagues. You will also be confident representing the Trust internally, and with the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board.
You will line manage a small team and will also take part in maternity training sessions where they relate to the role. You will also take part on the Midwifery Managers on call rota.

In this role you will provide expert direction and guidance to the frontline perinatal MDT on meeting national standards and inquiry recommendations. You will support the Divisional Management Team and the Trust Head of CQC Quality and Compliance with regulatory assurance. You will chair working groups and contribute to departmental and divisional meetings. You will also monitor quality indicators so that improvement plans stay on track, and help develop policies and strategy.
Person Specification
Education and training Essential
Educated to Masters level or has equivalent experience working at a senior level in clinical governance, compliance or assurance within NHS maternity/neonatal services Registered Midwife Evidence of CPD
Desirable
Recognised programme management qualification or relevant experience Relevant Certification e.g. CIM, ChPP Qualification in healthcare QI Qualification in organisational change management
Knowledge and skills Essential
Able to compile, analyse and report on complex data Excellent verbal and written communication skills Able to work on several projects concurrently, prioritise and manage a complex workload Able to manage budgets and staff where required

Experience Essential
