Job summary
Our Reception team consists of the operations manager and 9 patient service advisors working throughout the week to cover our busy front desk, online requests and telephone system. This is a fast paced office environment that requires excellent communication skills, empathy, resilience, patience and some physical dexterity.
The hours for this role are as follows: Tuesday - Thursday 12pm-6pm. 18 hours per week.
Main duties of the job

1. To provide a professional service to patients via the telephone and digitally. Inform patients of general information about the practice. To be calm, friendly and polite at all times.
2. To be aware of all policies relating to diversity and to represent the practice in a positive and professional manner.
3. To make, change and alter appointments, working within the boundaries of the appointments protocols.
4. To signpost requests for appointments to the appropriate service after appropriate discussion with the patient.
5. To be familiar with the Practice Boundary and to register patients appropriately. Deal with patient deductions which includes manual handling.
6. To offer new patients information about the practice and its services both verbally and using printed materials.
7. To prepare repeat prescriptions and liaise with the Medicines Management Team.
8. To scan documents on to the clinical system and distribute appropriately.
9. The position also includes admin tasks to be conducted in-between telephone calls.
10. To be familiar with the principles of confidentiality, Caldicott, Governance and data protection and always be mindful of these during face to face and telephone encounters with patients/doctors and other staff.

Meanwood Group Practice is an ever-expanding practice situated in North Leeds. We provide care for approximately 16,000 patients covering a variety of demographics. We are also an active member of the Central North Leeds Primary Care Network (PCN).
We are a friendly, dynamic and supportive team of 10 Partners, 5 Salaried GP's,1 ACP, 7 practice nurses, 1 HCA and 1 Phlebotomist all supported by our experienced reception and administrative teams. The practice provides specialist services for ENT, Minor Surgery, Gynaecology and Menopause. We are also a well established GP training practice.

To be the first point of contact for patients over the telephone, digitally and face to face at the Reception desk. Book appointments, provide information, give test results and signpost patients to appropriate services.
To act as a first point of contact for patients and to represent the practice in a polite, professional and caring manner.
To have a general knowledge of the processes and procedures within the practice in order to advise patients relating to any and all enquiries.
To be able to inform patients of test results.
Register new patients.
To action patient prescription requests and liaise with Medicines Management Team
To signpost patients to other services both internally and externally
To be familiar with the computer system in order to be able to carry out the duties outlined.
Filing patient files which includes manual handling.

Qualifications Essential
Essential criteria Preferably educated to O Level / GCSE standard, but certainly with evidence of a sound education with English and Maths as minimum. Evidence of IT literacy.

Experience of and success at communicating. Experience of working with a team, and promoting team spirit. Experience of working in an IT environment. Experience of working with members of the public. To be able to use ladders to retrieve patient files.
Desirable
Working in a NHS GP Practice or busy office environment
