Job summary
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated HCPC Registered Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist within the Adult Community and Learning and Disability Services. The service provides assessment and intervention for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties across community settings, including patient homes across North Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent, with a base in Bentilee. This is a dynamic and innovative role delivered through a partnership between Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MPFT) and North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust (NSCHT).
You will be employed by MPFT with clinical delivery being undertaken by NSCHT providing a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced specialist colleagues within a well-established service. Main duties of the job
This is an exciting and rewarding role for a Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about person-centred care, reducing health inequalities and building therapeutic relationships.
Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll collaborate with colleagues from psychology, occupational therapy, nursing, psychiatry, physiotherapy and social care to deliver quality care for adults with learning disabilities.
You will manage a caseload of adults with communication and eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties, providing assessment, intervention, and management. You will work closely with individuals, their families, carers, and support networks to improve communication, safety, health outcomes, and quality of life.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent Registration with HCPC Post Graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course or equivalent. Post qualification courses in relevant area e.g. ALD Attendance at relevant Clinical Excellence Networks Up to date field work/pre-registration student training.
Experience Essential
Relevant experience to the role including assessment and management of adults with LD Assessment and management of routine communication and dysphagia Ability to manage time and caseload effectively. Supporting service users, families and carers in dealing with the impact of acquired communication difficulties. Working in a multidisciplinary team.
