An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Nurse to work here at Walderslade Surgery. Working 24 hours per week over Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
We are looking for a candidate, full of enthusiasm and ready for a challenge. The role will be varied and cover all aspects of Practice Nursing.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced Practice Nurse in Chronic Disease Management who is friendly and enthusiastic to provide a high quality of care to our patients. A successful candidate will also be confident, have excellent organisational skills, be able to self-manage and be IT proficient.

Job description Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse will work as part of our primary healthcare team providing care to the patients of Practice
Monitoring and management of chronic disease areas such as Asthma, COPD, hypertension, diabetes, further training may available if required in specific areas.Cytology smear taking, swabs, basic sexual health & contraceptionConducting investigations, ECGs, 24 BP recordings etc.Immunisations including baby and travel vaccinations.Dressings and treatment room procedures.Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabsFollowing agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriateOther tasks will include:Following all infection control procedures and ensuring everything is in place, regular checks etc.Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician.Participation in administrative systems in the PracticeAt all times there will be a need to maintain accurate recordsA duty to advise GPs of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasksAttend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visitsAny other delegated duties appropriate to the postThis role will support the wider team with:
Clinical auditsSafeguarding concernsSupport and participate in shared learning over the PracticeSupport for GPs in patient careAbility to review clinical practices and respond to national policies and initiatives where necessaryParticipate in local initiatives in order to enhance local patient care where necessaryMonitoring of safe storage, rotation and disposal of medicaments.
