About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity to gain experience in the Community Children's Nursing Team that provides high quality evidence-based practice in the community, to children who have a clinical nursing need.

The team provides a 7-day service, 08.00-18.00 weekdays and 09.00-17.00 at weekends/bank holidays.

The successful candidate will need to be a good team player, hold a full driving licence and their own vehicle, and be prepared to travel throughout the West Suffolk area.

The post would be fixed term for 1 year covering maternity leave based in the Bury office.

Main duties of the job

We provide skilled nursing care to those who have a clinical nursing need. For example: gastrostomy care, naso-gastric tube feeding, wound care, intravenous therapy, blood sampling,tracheostomy care, home oxygen, care of central lines, general support, advice and education.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification Essential

Educated to degree level RN - Child Branch or RSCN Diploma/Degree Evidence of ongoing CPD Mentorship/preceptorship training

Desirable

Specialist Practice Community Children Nursing Degree or equivalent Independent Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP)

Experience & Knowledge Essential

Significant post registration experience in acute or community setting Supervision of junior staff and students. Sound clinical knowledge and competency in a wide variety of clinical skills i.e. intravenous therapy, wound care, enteral feeding leadership experience including the day-to-day clinical management of a team within the acute or community setting Experience of working in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team Knowledge of the Data Protection Act Demonstrates an awareness of safeguarding policies and procedures Awareness of Trust ambitions and values

Desirable

Experience of service improvement Nursing Care of children and young people with palliative/complex care needs Community experience

Skills & Abilities Essential

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written. Ability to work to clear guidelines and within role boundaries Ability to work under pressure Proficient IT skills Able to recognise and manage deteriorating patients Advanced clinical assessment and decision- making skills. Able to work autonomously
