About this role

Job summary As a GPwER / GPwSI in Gynaecology, you will independently assess, investigate and manage patients referred into the CHEC Community Gynaecology Service. You will provide expert clinical care within agreed service specifications and work collaboratively to ensure patients receive timely diagnosis, treatment, support and onward referral where required.

Main duties of the job Conditions You Will Manage You will assess and manage a variety of community gynaecology presentations, including: Amenorrhoea and menstrual irregularities Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia) Intermenstrual bleeding Post-coital bleeding Dysmenorrhoea Menopausal and perimenopausal symptoms Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Premenstrual disorders Vaginal and vulval symptoms within service scope Other benign gynaecological conditions included within commissioned pathways You will also be responsible for recognising patients requiring urgent investigation, suspected cancer referral, or secondary care management in line with NICE guidance and local pathways.

We are seeking experienced GPs with an Extended Role (GPwER) or Special Interest (GPwSI) in Gynaecology and Women's Health to support the delivery of our Community Gynaecology Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a high-quality, patient-centred service, providing specialist assessment, investigation and management of women with a range of benign gynaecological conditions in a community setting. Working autonomously within your approved scope of practice and clinical privileges, you will play a key role in delivering accessible, evidence-based care while ensuring patients requiring secondary care input are appropriately identified and referred.

Job description Job responsibilities Key Responsibilities Undertake comprehensive gynaecological assessments and clinical history taking. Perform abdominal, speculum and pelvic examinations where clinically indicated and within your competency. Formulate differential diagnoses and management plans. Request and interpret appropriate investigations. Prescribe and monitor treatment within your scope of practice. Provide counselling, education and shared decision-making. Identify red-flag symptoms and arrange appropriate escalation. Refer patients to secondary care and specialist services as appropriate. Review investigation results and ensure follow-up actions are completed. Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical documentation. Complete clinic letters, referrals and associated administration within agreed timescales. Participate in audit, governance, incident review and quality improvement activities. Work in accordance with CHEC policies, SOPs and clinical governance frameworks.

About You You will be an experienced GP with a demonstrated experience and qualifications within Women's Health and Community Gynaecology, capable of delivering safe, effective and evidence-based care in an autonomous clinical setting. Essential Requirements Current GMC registration and licence to practise. GP CCT or recognised equivalent qualification. Participation in ongoing NHS appraisal and revalidation. Recognised postgraduate qualification in Gynaecology or Women's Health, such as: oDRCOG oPostgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Women's Health oEquivalent qualification accepted by CHEC Minimum of one year's regular clinical Gynaecology experience within secondary care or an established community gynaecology service. Evidence of recent clinical exposure and competency in managing community gynaecology presentations. Experience of recognising and appropriately referring patients requiring urgent investigation, suspected cancer pathways or secondary care management. Satisfactory clinical and employment references. Appropriate professional indemnity cover.
