Job summary
St Andrews Medical Centre is seeking a friendly, motivated Salaried GP to join our supportive and forward-thinking practice in Eccles, Salford.
We are a well-established practice caring for around 16,000 patients, with an experienced multidisciplinary team and a strong focus on delivering accessible, high-quality patient care. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP who values teamwork, continuity and a genuinely supportive working environment.
We are open to discussing 2-4 sessions per week, with a Friday commitment essential.
Main duties of the job
You will provide a mixture of routine and same-day GP appointments, predominantly face-to-face, alongside home visits where clinically appropriate. You will work closely with our GPs, ANPs, nursing team, care navigators and wider administrative team to provide safe, effective and patient-centred care.
The role includes clinical assessment, diagnosis, management of acute and long-term conditions, prescribing, referrals and appropriate follow-up. There will also be opportunities to contribute to practice development, quality improvement and any clinical interests you may have.

Your responsibilities will include:
Undertaking routine and same-day GP consultations, predominantly face-to-face.Assessing, diagnosing and managing acute and long-term conditions.Prescribing safely and appropriately, including medication reviews where needed.Reviewing results, referrals, clinical correspondence and other appropriate clinical tasks.Making referrals and coordinating care with community, secondary care and wider multidisciplinary services.Providing home visits where clinically appropriate.Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous clinical records on EMIS Web.Working collaboratively with GP partners, salaried GPs, ANPs, practice nurses, HCAs, GP assistants, care navigators and administrative colleagues.Participating in clinical meetings, audit, quality improvement and practice development.Supporting the practices commitment to safeguarding, patient safety, equality, confidentiality and high standards of care.We are proud of our strong access model, excellent patient service and collaborative team culture. Routine appointments are generally available within one to two working days, and our skilled care navigation team helps ensure patients reach the right clinician or service promptly.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
- Fully qualified GP with current GMC registration and licence to practise. - Included on the NHS England Medical Performers List. - Hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice - Eligible to work in the UK. - Experience of working in UK general practice. - Able to provide safe, effective and compassionate care across the full range of general practice presentations. - Strong consultation, clinical assessment, diagnostic and decision-making skills. - Able to manage both acute and long-term conditions appropriately. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues. - Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Good organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to manage clinical workload safely. - Competent IT skills and willingness to use EMIS Web; previous EMIS Web experience is desirable. - Commitment to safeguarding, clinical governance, patient safety, equality, diversity and confidentiality. - Willingness to participate in practice meetings, quality improvement and ongoing professional development. - Reliable, adaptable and professional, with a positive approach to team working.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in a busy GP practice. - Confident user of EMIS Web and NHS digital systems. - Experience of undertaking home visits. - Additional clinical qualifications, special interests or expertise relevant to primary care. - Experience of teaching, mentoring or supporting trainees and other members of the clinical team. - Involvement in clinical audit, quality improvement, research or service development. - Experience of working closely with a multidisciplinary team, including ANPs, practice nurses, pharmacists and care navigators. - Knowledge of local Salford/Greater Manchester primary care pathways and services. - Experience of contributing to QOF, enhanced services or other contractual work. - Ability to offer flexibility in working sessions
