Job summary
A very exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist or Occupational therapist to join our Therapy service at Ipswich for a fixed term contract to support over the winter period.
We are an integrated therapy team with Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Therapy Assistant Practitioners working closely together to provide early therapeutic interventions for our patients on admission.
Our Therapists provide a comprehensive holistic Therapy assessment with patients on the admission wards at Ipswich Hospital. This assessment forms the basis of the patients' journey within the hospital, providing early identification of Frailty and prevention of deconditioning.
As part of the role, you will be expected to perform evidenced based therapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, social and psychological conditions. You will formulate, implement and deliver an individualised treatment programmes, setting SMART goals and facilitate early discharge planning. We are looking for someone who is driven and passionate about early intervention in the acute setting. You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills to work in this fast paced busy environment.
For Physiotherapists, you will need to have adequate respiratory skills to assess, treat and manage acutely unwell patients with respiratory conditions or willing to develop these skills.
Main duties of the job
Providing a high standard physiotherapy or occupational therapy service in the rotation you are in (Rotations include Medical, Front Door, Surgery and CCU, Spinal team, Respiratory Outpatients, Stroke, Neuro, ESD in Stoke and Older people's services)
Provide an evidence based physiotherapy or occupational therapy service that adheres to CSP, RCOT, HCPC and CQC clinical and quality standards.
To ensure as far as is reasonably practical the safety of the patients in your care.
To supervise and assist in the development of junior physiotherapists, nonqualified staff and students on placement in each rotation.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
BSc / MSc Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy UK Driving License
Experience Essential
Completed ESNEFT Trust preceptorship program, or equivalent in other Trust. Respiratory on-call (physiotherapists) (2) OR Experience of completing standardised cognitive assessment and interpreting the findings (Occupational Therapists) Experience of facilitating discharges from the acute setting and/or managing a caseload of patients within the community Comprehensive range of junior rotations with experience of complex caseload management Prioritisation of workload.
Desirable
Participation in audits Participation in service development.
