Job summary
The primary objective of the post holder is to provide a high-quality patient service provision. They will be expected to gain general neurosurgical and complex spinal competencies in the post. He or she will be expected to work collaboratively with their consultant supervisors, peers and juniors to facilitate the work of the department
Main duties of the job
The Fellow will be allocated to consultants.Different rotation patterns are available, covering short segment spinal deformity, degenerative conditions, Neuromodulation including spinal cord stimulator and Intrathecal Baclofen and Morphine services and spinal oncology in accordance with the fellow's area of interest and development during the fellowship. There is opportunity to work with the Pain Management services for those keen to develop their competencies in Pain Management and Neuromodulation. The post attracts standard tariff salary with a neurosurgical SpR (cranial & spinal) on-call commitment. In addition to there is an additional allowance depending on the on-call and weekend rota commitment (See Section 4)The Fellow will be also required to cover non -spinal lists and clinics depending on service requirementsThe Fellow will be on the general neurosurgical registrar (resident) rota covering all neurosurgery emergencies and will require to have a degree of independence in doing some cases.
