Ealing Paediatric OT are looking for motivated, flexible and innovative therapists to work with children and young people in Ealing. We are a friendly, dynamic and diverse team who are passionate about supporting children, young people and families in Ealing. We work with a diverse population group across health, education and social care. At the moment we are based at Armstrong Way. We are part of a high level integrated and collaborated partnership between health, education and social care services.
The service is open to all children and young people aged 0-18 with a range of needs. We work along with our therapy colleagues and other agency partners to deliver a service which supports and promotes the health and development of children and young people who are experiencing barriers to participation everyday occupations. These children and young may experience barriers due to physical disability, social communication challenges or other specific developmental differences. Pathways within the service ensure that Multidisciplinary working is integral in the role and provides a whole systems approach for these families, supporting them to tell their story just once
Main duties of the job
Within your clinical role you will demonstrate confidence and competence in delivering assessment and therapy in mainstream school, special schools and clinic settings and the ability to provide comprehensive written clinical reasoning in all documentation.
To demonstrate working autonomously with an understanding of safe lone working is essential as you will be working across various settings, from schools, homes, nurseries and clinics, often on your own.
You will have a strong enthusiasm for working with children and young people and comprehensive knowledge of statutory assessment for Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and SEND guidance and how this applies to clinical work.
You will be able to develop your leadership skills with the responsibility of day-to-day operational management of junior staff and monitoring the quality of care given. The post holder will be expected to pro-actively contribute to areas of service development.

There are also Band 6 & 5 Therapists and Band 3 Technicians. We have regular in-house and external CPD opportunities and a strong supervision structure.
We recognise that Band 6's are the backbone teams, supporting with leadership and managerial tasks within clinical teams and we will therefore support their development both clinically and managerially.

This is a fixed-term appointment for the period of 24 month post. Completion of the contract does not, by itself, guarantee renewal or further or permanent employment.
This post will involve working in a mixture of clinics, mainstream and specials schools. Our service is keen to focus on evidence-based family-centred care principles and applying best practice guidelines to enable occupational participation. We are open to new ideas and constantly reviewing and modifying the way we work.
In this role as a member of the Childrens Integrated Therapies Service, you will be expected to be a competent OT who is able to autonomously deliver evidence-based therapy to children and young people through full age ranges and across a variety of needs.
You will be part of a community team where your proven ability to work collaboratively with children, young people and their families will support their development and facilitate them in achieving their aspirations. This will include being part of an immediate Occupational Therapy team and working with a broad multidisciplinary team and other partner agencies - forming part of network of support around the child and their family.
You will be expected to work autonomously across the community settings, working jointly with our partner services of Education and Social Care. Throughout your working you are required to always maintain safeguarding of children and young people.
Your leaderships skills will enable you to engage in development and support of the team, through supervision, training and guidance to team and contribute to development of the service.
We are looking for team players who have a range of clinical experiences. Candidates will need to have good communication skills and any experience in working within an inter-disciplinary team and interagency collaboration will be an advantage. Person Specification
Education and Qualification Essential
Recognised Occupational Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Evidence of continuous professional development (e.g. attendance of journal clubs, conferences, professional specialist interest activities) in the field of OT.
Desirable
MSc in OT. Evidence of successful completion of specialist training courses e.g. School AMPS, CO-OP, OPC, Sensory Integration etc. Registered member with relevant professional bodies e.g. RCOT, RCOT CYPFSS etc.
Knowledge & Experience Essential
Good knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools relevant to the specialist client group. Good knowledge of range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to client group) Good knowledge of the principles of clinical governance including patient safety, quality, clinical audit and patient experience Good knowledge of the roles of other professionals across agencies Awareness of Care Quality Commission (CQC) Broad and deep knowledge of a range of assessment tools relevant to the specialist client group. Knowledge of typical child development and its application in OT assessment and intervention Display understanding and use of evidence-based practice e.g. application of current research, reflection of practice. Experience in working with a multidisciplinary team and/or also working across different settings and agencies, e.g. acute, community, education, social services. Basic knowledge of relevant legislation or policies related to working with children, young people and families. Basic level of knowledge and experience in service development and clinical governance e.g. audits.
